During the Cold War, the CIA supported many dictators, including General Augusto Pinochet of Chile; dictators in Central America, African Dictators like Mobutu Sese Seko and Jonas Savimbi, the Shah of Iran, and the religious despots in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Kuwait and Indonesia,

John Stockwell, formerly a high-level CIA operative, claims that six million people have been killed by the United States in the Third World countries. This claim includes the deaths in the Korea and Vietnam wars that Stockwell feels should be blamed on the United States government.[28]

The book discusses the alleged use of opium to fund covert operations done by the CIA in Vietnam. According to Dr. McCoy, the agency also intimidated his sources and tried to keep the book from being published, citing national security concerns.”

•During the Vietnam war the CIA conducted Operation Phoenix, an assassination program. The goal was not only to eliminate those Vietnamese who might oppose the U.S. (which in practice meant most of the population of Vietnam) but also to terrorize the entire population of South Vietnam and to suppress opposition to the occupying U.S. forces. Over 20,000 Vietnamese were murdered, often at random.
•The CIA also recruited a mercenary army in Vietnam (financed by profits from the CIA’s heroin smuggling), particularly from among the Hmong villagers, which was used to terrorize the civilian population and to prevent them from assisting the Viet Cong.
•The CIA organized and financed (with the profits from its cocaine smuggling) the activities of the Contras in Nicaragua, who murdered tens of thousands of civilians, and tried to disrupt the economy, in an attempt to destabilize the legitimate Sandinista government. (For this the U.S. was condemned in the World Court for engaging in international terrorism, and it rejected a U.N. security council resolution calling upon it to observe international law.)
•The CIA planned and organized the military coup d’etat in 1973 in Chile which overthrew the legitimately elected government of Salvador Allende (because he would not implement economic policies designed in Washington to favor American corporations doing business in Chile) and brought to power the regime of General Augusto Pinochet; this regime abducted, tortured and killed thousands of Chilean citizens in an attempt to suppress opposition.
•The CIA organized and supported the Turkish government’s persecution of its Kurdish minority during the 1990s, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and millions of refuges; the aim being the suppression of Kurdish culture and the elimination of Kurdish demands for a separate state.

I was recently told that my ex-husband had died years ago. I went to the Social Security Death Index, and all it told me was that he died in August of 1991. It did not say where his last residence was, so I do not know what state he was living in at the time. The newspaper in his hometown does not have archived obits that far back online, and I really want to find my information online, not in person, for personal reasons. His name was Joseph Allen Whitlow, Sr. We lived in Princeton, WV when we were married in the early 1980’s, and his mother still lives there, but I don’t want to call and ask her about it after this many years. My source about his death thought that he was living in Texas when he died, working as a manager for an apartment complex, and that he died of a drug overdose. But I can’t find anything in the Texas death record database or newspaper searches. Does anyone have any idea how to find this information online?

However, he overcame a record-breaking blizzard and even apparent prayers for his demise to provide the vital 60th vote the Democrats needed to block delaying tactics by the opposition.

Before the first of the three procedural votes was taken on Sunday, Senator Tom Coburn, a Republican of Oklahoma, said from the senate floor: "What the American people ought to pray is that somebody can’t make the vote tonight," he said. "That’s what they ought to pray."

Senator Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, expressed his shock. "This statement goes too far," he said. "We are becoming more coarse and divided here … When it reaches a point where we’re praying, asking people to pray, that senators wouldn’t be able to answer the roll call, I think it has crossed the line."

Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, who is a robust 79, said: "I have been worried about Senator Byrd living through the physical trauma of the past few weeks. It is an inevitable thought when you see him rolled into the chamber at 1am. Compelling Senator Byrd to vote needlessly is a new Senate low mark."

Recently I discovered that some of my ancestors were full-blood Native Americans who walked the Trail of Tears from Mississippi to Oklahoma. I have records with roll numbers for all of the my relatives born from these ancestors, and naturally I’m interested in acquiring birth/death/marriage certificates to prove my blood relation and tribal origins.

Does anybody know how the government law dictates who is legally entitled to claim Native American ethnity on Fedral/State tax forms and other official documents? In the past never registered as Native American, because I thought a person had to be pure 100% blood to claim it. Does the government require a certain quantum of Native American blood origin, or do they simply require some kind of roll/census number that properly proves I’ve already established my my Native American racial origin that is certified by my tribe?

More importantly, if you have any advice on how to go about establishing proof for my family’s genealogy, I would appreciate it. So far all I have is what my parents have given me where are a photocopies of letters written by ancestors, drawings of family trees, newspaper articles with photos, and roll numbers. Nobody seems to have any knowledge of who our ancestors were five generations back.

you are only native if you are enrolled in a federally recognized nation. and even if you are you will pay taxes like all the rest of us.

i’m enrolled mohawk and pay all the same taxes as my non native neighbors. the myth that we don’t pay taxes is a lie just like the lie that we get checks from the government. spread to make idiots hate us.
