Have all of you read the Wisconsin death threats from the tolerant left?

March 30th, 2011 15 comments

“This is how it’s going to happen: I as well as many others know where you and your family live, it’s a matter of public records. We have all planned to assault (sic) you by arriving at your house and putting a nice little bullet in your head. However, this isn’t enough. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the message. So we have built several bombs that we have placed in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent…"

"We will hunt you down. We will slit your throats. We will drink your blood. I will have your decapitated head on a pike in the Madison town square. This is your last warning."

Is this the new civility that Obama talked about in Tuscon?

Help tracing this family, Marie B Lund, Louis P Johnson, Louis Vego Johnson?

March 30th, 2011 4 comments

I am looking for anyone that can help me find some passenger or census records for this family.
The mother is Marie B Lund, born 1875 in Denmark. I have found her with husband and child in the 1910 Federal Census in King county, WA. It says that she came to the USA in 1889. Her death record of 7 may 1956 in Enumclaw, King, Washington states that her Father’s name is Lund and mothers name is Elizabeth Kjaerulf, both from Denmark. She most likely lived in Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1900.
Her husband, Louis Peter Johnson was born 12 Sep 1868 in Skeby, Fyn, Denmark. I have his passenger record and naturalization. He was naturalized in Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1899. Came to this country in 1888. In the 1910 census he is living next door to his brother Johannes Jokumsen. Louis Peter Johnson’s birth name is Lars Peder Jokumsen, but he went by Louis or Lewis P Johnson while living in the USA. If anyone can find census records for this family, or death records it would be much appreciated. Louis and Marie probably married in 1906 in Ohio.
Their son is Louis Vego Johnson born 1906 in Ohio. He went by Vego Johnson. Also on the 1910 Census record with parents in Washington State. Any information on who he may have married or any children would be great. I think his wife may be Ella R Kodal.
Basically I am looking for:
1900 Census Record for Marie B Lund possibly in Ohio
1900 Census for Louis P Johnson, most likely in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Probably in the city of Lakewood or Rocky River,
1920 Census for Marie B Johnson nee Lund, Louis P Johnson, Louis Vego Johnson
1930 Census for Marie B Johnson nee Lund, Louis P Johnson
1930 Census for Louis Vego Johnson, Ella R Johnson nee Kodal

Sorry this is so long, I hope it is clearly stated.
In the 1920 and 1930 census the family most likely are still in the state of Washington.

Is this them in 1920?

Voter reform bills? VALUE? DUH.. NO provision to verify that ONLY US citizens vote!Demand mental testing??

March 30th, 2011 1 comment

…Legislators clearly need compentency testing ! Citizens vote…The states/and FEDS collect taxes that are to preserve /protect the nation Yet our Congress refuses to ensure that votes are not compromised by failure to fund and enforce the simple requirement…Voters MUST be US citizens DUH..This is deceit and criminal fraud.
…Many states register "voters" based solely on utility stubs, local address, & maybe a DR liscense. Recently Texas was "embarrassed" to find that their prospective jurors were NOT US citizens..(seems the jury pool is taken from registered voter rolls)
…Why has there been NO demand ( or even noise) for a Federal data base that correlates birth/death records?States have had $ & time yet manyhave yet to complete record update(computer). In todays technological world, identifying a US citizen should be a few mouse clicks away. Yet every election, we joke about how many dead people vote ??
Government "by the people" or arrogant corrupt Congress?

Voters for federal office must be US citizens by law. State offices require voters to be citizens of that state (which in effect requires them to be US citizens). I’m not saying that there isn’t a huge fraud problem (there is – the laws are not being enforced well), just that it is already a requirement. A national ID is not the answer either. Laws are laxly enforced because some influential people whine that legitimate voters will be denied their vote if we make them prove they are citizens before voting but my belief is that those weeded out are likely to be those people who vote based on what others tell them they should do, ie, the people who are unwilling to prepare themselves. The US would be better off anyway if a greater percentage of those who do vote were knowledgeable voters. I’d also like to see the Electoral College strengthened as so many people are now squeezed into narrow strips along the four coasts that vast parts of the country simply have their views mainly ignored. It’s not a big state/little state issue anymore.

Where can I find public records in Los Angeles?

March 30th, 2011 3 comments

Looking for birth, death, marriage, land-owning, etc? Where would I have to go (Department of Public Records?) to find this info in Los Angeles?

Birth, Death and Marriage records are available from the LA County Clerk’s office. Their phone number is (562) 462-2137.

Real Property records are available from the LA County Assessor’s office. Their phone number is (213)974-3211.

Can you help me find my Italian ancestor’s immigration records?

March 30th, 2011 2 comments

I’m just stumped right now. His name was Vito Gerardi, born in 1877 in Italy. He immigrated January 10, 1886 to New York with his parents, Domenico Gerardi and Catherina (Nole) Gerardi. I *believe* he was from Avigliano, Italy, but that’s just speculation until the microfilm from the LDS library arrives in a few weeks.

I have found his naturalization records. I have found him in the 1910 Federal Census. I have found his marriage certificate. I have found what I believe to be the death records of his father, mother, wife, and daughter. I just can’t find any record of his actual immigration. I’ve looked on Ancestry.com and Castle Garden’s website without luck.

Maybe some of you who are more skilled at this can either find more information or lead me in another direction. I feel like I’ve exhausted almost every source.

Also, would there be a website where I could look up passenger vessels by the date or the year or where they departed? That might help me narrow it down since I have his date of arrival. Thanks!

Several things to keep in mind. Prior to 1892, ships passenger lists could be sketchy. The only records may be for the entire family. New York harbor was only one of many ports of entry. The other major ports were Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston and New Orleans

Is the Proposed Koran Burning a Mass Tort? Could there be Liability if Harm Occurs?

March 30th, 2011 3 comments

This looks a lot like a slow motion disaster in the making.

Terry Jones, the pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida who is at the center of the Koran uproar, has so far resisted calls to cancel the bonfire.

President Obama and Eric Holder feel that there’s absolutely nothing they can do, apart from giving speeches, of course.

They have mis-interpreted the First Amendment, contrary to 230 years of US law, which is available in all law libraries. They feel that the First Amendment gives everybody an absolute right to say anything they want any time they want anywhere they want. They have decided to utterly disregard hundreds of Supreme Court cases that say that freedom of speech is limited (like every other right in the Bill of Rights).

One man’s right to free speech ends when that speech is highly likely to cause death or great bodilty harm to another person. Gen. Petraeus is on record in sworn testimony before the Congress that death or great bodily harm is the likely consequence of Terri Jones proposed speech act.

And yet the spineless, wormlike, Jellywaggle Blancmange Obamination — who has never seen any evil anywhere that he was willing to stand up to, says that he and Eric Holder’s hand are tied, there’s not a thing they can do — no injunction — no restraining order — not a thing — they are helpless.

Does that mean that every tort lawyer in the world is also helpless — and will be completely passive and inert if Terri Jones does his act and harm actually ensues.

See, then it’s not a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment is about prior restraint by the Federal government, not about tort suits brought after harm has been done by private tort lawyers.

Terri Jones and his Church and possibly his congregation members who participate in his act might very well be liable in civil law for all deaths and injuries that occur as proximate results of the proposed Koran burning. If a jury is satisfied that act A caused result B, and that result B was a clearly foreseeable consequence of act A, and that harm was done, then liability can be imposed as a matter of civil law. It’s called a mass tort — where a lot of people are hurt from a single act done by a single party — Terri Jones and his Church.

I think there’s also a case for damages based on the costs of increased security precautions that had to be put in place as a proximate result of the conduct of Terri Jones. So it’s like the Balloon Boy situation. One person causes a costly mass alarm that imposes otherwise unecessary costs on officials and law enforcement and security professionals.

Between these two torts Terri Jones will be out of business.

I think there’s also a Federal law that prevents malfeasors from profiting from book deals they make based on their bad acts. There may be a Florida law as well.

The fact that the President is a Jellywaggle Blancmange does not mean that Terri Jones is completely beyond the reach of American and world justice.

If the bad act is done the bad Karma will come to Terri Jones. I speak as a former member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (now retired).

We are not helpless.

We are not spineless.

When we see evil, we do something about it.
To the many out there who simply have no idea what the First Amendment protects, I have this question:

If Terri Jones shouted "Fire!" in a crowded theatre, when there was no fire, would his speech be protected by the First Amendment in your opinion?

Do you feel that the Supreme Court of the United States, in 100 opinions dating back 70 years, might possibly know more about the First Amendment, and what it protects, than you do based on Civics 101 that you slept through in High School?

Doh!

And naturally you would have the same opinion about the Ground Zero mosque, right?

If they started building and violence erupted, you would hold the mosque builders liable?

Math homework help!!?

I need help with the multiple answer question below:

In Death Valley, California, the highest ground temperature recorded was 94°C on July 15,1972. In the formula

C = 5/9(F – 32), C represents the temperature in degrees Celsius and F represents the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit. To the nearest degree, what is the highest ground temperature in Death Valley in Fahrenheit?

F. 201°F G. 84°F H. 34°F J. 137°F

You are being asked for this:

C = 5/9(F – 32), then F=(9/5)C+32, if you have 94°C as your objective Fahrenheit temperature then you have to do the following

F=(9/5)94+32: 1.8(94)+32: 169.2+32=201.2°F
Hope this helps

Understanding How Cook County Made Birth Certificates Digital

March 29th, 2011 No comments

Registering a child for a new school or sports team, changing last names after a marriage, applying for a passport all require original, certified copies of legal documents. Often, the headache that comes along with obtaining the necessary documents can turn the entire process into a nightmare.

In many cases, the request for documents needs to be made in person. Those employed during regular working hours are forced to dash to the county office on a long lunch break, or in some cases even take time off from their jobs. Arriving at the office, they’re then faced with forms that they would have preferred to fill out at their desk, but must now tackle hunched over with others seeking the same documents, often in a tiny and crowded room. In order to reduce fraud, which is estimated to involve real birth certificates 85% of the time, security surrounding vital documents has become far more rigorous, which means longer forms and more requirements.

Once the paperwork has been completed, it’s into another line, which could take any amount of time, before the request can be presented to a county worker at the vital records agency. Occasionally, the needed document is able to be quickly retrieved and handed over to the requesting party. More often, however, the person requesting the record is forced to wait, sometimes more than a day, until they’re able to pick up or receive the records in the mail.

The process can be exhausting, but it doesn’t have to be. Access to birth records can be greatly simplified when county’s use updated document management technology to improve their work flow. The entire process can be completed in about five minutes, with a happy customer leaving with birth certificate in hand.

The Cook County Clerk’s office, which services Chicago and some suburbs, is a great example of a vital records office that has streamlined and simplified the document request process. Cook County birth certificates and death certificates can be obtained at the county clerk’s office, and they typically service 500,000 customers annually. Customers can print a copy of a birth certificate (or other vital record document) request form from the Cook County Web site and fill it out at their leisure. Once they arrive at the office and present proper identification, a representative can immediately access the record from the Clerk’s automated system. Identification must prove that a customer is requesting a record only for themselves or their child. Approximately 80 percent of qualified customers have their desired paperwork in their hand within five minutes of being greeted.

In an effort to further improve their system, Cook County has installed technology that digitally stores actual images of all vital records, including birth certificates and death certificates. So, customers can receive certified copy of a digitized image of the original document. In many cases, it even has the father’s original signature. This step also serves to preserve the records more efficiently.
As more areas of the country begin to adopt the technology that Cook County currently uses to provide the public with birth and death certificates, the process of obtaining certified copies of vital records will continue to become easier.

7 Days of Makaveli

March 29th, 2011 2 comments

The music industry have created some of the most influential people around the world such as Britney Spears, Madonna, Beyoncé Knowles, David Bowie, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Christina Aguilera, Metallica, Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and many more. But aside from these people, there is a man that despite his popularity with the law, he became the voice for those that experienced violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, and problems in society. This man is popularly known by his stage names as 2Pac and makaveli.

Tupac Amaru Shakur, also known by his stage names 2Pac and makaveli, was an American rapper popular for producing some of the most popular yet controversial albums such as 2Pacalypse Now, Thug Life: Volume 1, and All Eyez on Me. Hailed by Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-selling hip hop artist with over seventy five million albums sold worldwide, including over fifty million in the United States.

Tupac gained popularity for his music which is known for advocating political, economic, social and racial equality, as well as his raw descriptions of violence, drug and alcohol abuse and conflicts with the law.

Though he is lost, his memories still lived on in our hearts and in our music. This article will again dive into the life of a man that once influenced the life of the urban community and are still seen throughout the world.

Vol. 1: Beginning of Life

Tupac’s professional entertainment life started when he was recruited as a backup dancer by the alternative hip hop group called the Digital Underground in the 1990s. It was then that the group gave him a chance to show his rapping skills when the group released their album “This is an EP Release”. From there, the group had seen Tupac’s huge potential in the world of rapping and signed him again on another album called “Sons Of The P”.

After sometime, seeing that he has the talent for this industry, Tupac tried to do solo and released his first album called “2Pacalypse Now”. Initially he had trouble marketing his solo debut, but Interscope Records’ executives Ted Field and Tom Whalley eventually agreed to distribute the record.

“2Pacalypse Now” is the first album that seen Tupac’s true nature, a rebel. Tupac claimed himself that the album was aimed at the problems facing young black males, which in-turn was publicly criticized for its graphic language and images of violence by and against law enforcement. It was also when the former vice president, Dan Quayle, denounced the album as having “no place in our society”. This was the reason why the album did not do as well on the charts as future albums, spawning no top ten hits

His second record, “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.”, was released in 1993. The album, mostly produced by Randy “Stretch” Walker and the Live Squad, generated two hits, “Keep Ya Head Up” and “I Get Around”, the latter featuring guest appearances by Shock G and Money-B of the Digital Underground.

Vol. 2: A Thug’s Life

After his second album “Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.”, Tupac then pursued to form his own group in which he called Thug Life. In late 1993, Tupac formed the group Thug Life with a number of his friends, including Big Syke, Macadoshis, his stepbrother Mopreme Shakur, and Rated R.

The group’s first and only album, “Thug Life: Volume 1”, was Tupac’s first album that scored a gold on an awarding night in September 26, 1994.

Thug Life was viewed by Tupac as a philosophy for life and not as being a rogue or criminal. He developed the word into a backronym standing for “The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody”. He used the term Thug not as being a criminal, but rather he meant someone who came from oppressive or squalid background and little opportunity but still made a life for himself and was proud.

Thug Life was his life, in which he became more popular than ever. But even though Tupac received much attention as a rapper and an actor, he also gained notoriety for his conflicts with the law and the government.

Vol. 3: Thug Life’s Life

Though his life was all but success in his industry, Tupac also suffered conflicts with the law. It was in October 1993 when Tupac was accused in a shooting where the prosecutors decided to drop all charges against all parties.

In December of the same year, Tupac was again under fire of accusations, in which this time involved a rape case. Tupac was convicted of sexual abuse. In sentencing Tupac to one-and-a-half years in a correctional facility, the judge described the crime as “an act of brutal violence against a helpless woman”.

In 1994, he was convicted again of attacking a former employer while on a music video set. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail with additional days on a highway work crew, community service, and a $2000 fine.

In 1995, a wrongful death was brought against Tupac for a 1992 shooting that killed Qa’id Walker-Teal, a six-year old of Marin City, California. The child had been the victim of a stray bullet in a shootout between Tupac’s entourage and a rival group, though the tests proved the bullet was not from Tupac or any members of his entourage’s guns. Criminal charges were not sought, and Tupac settled with the family for an amount estimated between $300,000 and $500,000.

Vol. 4: An Artist Prisoner

Though serving his prison sentence at Clinton Correctional Facility on February 14, 1995, Tupac still released an album from which he called “Me Against the World”.

Tupac was the only artist to ever release an album that scored the top place on the Billboard 200 while serving a prison sentence. The album stayed at the top of the charts for five consecutive weeks. At the same time, the album sold 240,000 copies in its first week, which set the record for highest first week sales for a solo male rap artist at the time.

Tupac also wrote a screenplay titled Live 2 Tell while incarcerated, a story about an adolescent who becomes a drug baron.

In October 1995, Tupac’s case was on appeal but due to all of his legal fees he could not raise the $1.4 million bail. After serving eleven months of his one-and-a-half year to four-and-a-half year sentence, Tupac was released from the penitentiary because of a man named Suge. Suge posted the $1.4 million bail pending appeal of the conviction, in exchange to release three albums for the last recording label that Tupac will ever be in, the Death Row records.

Vol. 5: Death at Death Row

After his release, Tupac immediately went back to song recording where he begun a new group called Outlaw Immortalz.

Tupac began recording his first album with Death Row and released the single “California Love” soon after. In 1996, Tupac then released his second album for Death Row and his fourth solo album called “All Eyez on Me” where it sold over nine million copies.

While incarcerated in Clinton Correctional Facility, Tupac also read many books particularly by Niccolò Machiavelli, Sun Tzu’s The Art of War and other works of political philosophy and strategy. Inspired by Niccolò Machiavelli, Tupac created his 2nd pseudonym he called “makaveli” under which he released the record album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

This album showed who makaveli is and what he really feels. This particular album presented a harsh contrast to his previous works. Throughout the album, makaveli continues to focus on the themes of pain and aggression, making this album one of the emotionally darker works of his career.

Tupac wrote and recorded all the lyrics in only three days and the production took another four days, combining for a total of seven days to complete the album, hence the name of the album. The record debuted at number one and sold 663,000 copies in the first week.

Because of the success of the album, makaveli even planned of starting his own recording label that he called makaveli records from which he planned to include Outlawz, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Big Syke, and Gang Starr. But this plan never took place, for this marked the start of a legacy that influenced the whole of the world.

Vol. 6: A Night of Legacy

On the night of September 7, 1996, at approximately 11:15 p.m., makaveli was riding in Suge’s 1996 black BMW 750iL sedan along with some of Tupac’s friends, Outlawz, and bodyguards when a white, four-door, late-model, Cadillac driven by unknown person(s) pulled up to the sedan’s right side, rolled down one of the windows, and rapidly fired around twelve to thirteen shots at Shakur.

Makaveli was struck by four rounds; one hit him in the chest, the pelvis, and his right hand and thigh, and one of the rounds apparently ricocheted into makaveli’s right lung.

After arriving on the scene, police and paramedics took Suge and a fatally wounded makaveli to the University Medical Center. At the hospital, makaveli was in and out of consciousness, was heavily sedated, was breathing through a ventilator and respirator, was placed on life support machines, and was ultimately put under a barbiturate-induced coma after repeatedly trying to get out of the bed.

While in Critical Care Unit on the afternoon of September 13, 1996, makaveli died of internal bleeding; doctors attempted to revive him but could not impede his hemorrhaging. His mother, Afeni, made the decision to tell the doctors to stop. He was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. The official cause of death was noted as respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest in connection with multiple gunshot wounds.

At a Mobb Deep concert following the death of makaveli and release of The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, in an interview from Cormega, he stated that the fans were all shouting “makaveli”, and emphasized the influence of the The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory and of makaveli himself even in New York at the height of the media-dubbed ‘intercoastal rivalry’.

To preserve makaveli’s legacy, his mother founded the Shakur Family Foundation (later re-named the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation or TASF) in 1997. The TASF’s stated mission is to “provide training and support for students who aspire to enhance their creative talents.”

The TASF sponsors essay contests, charity events, a performing arts day camp for teenagers and undergraduate scholarships. The Foundation officially opened the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts (TASCA) in Stone Mountain, Georgia, on June 11, 2005.

His mother also launched their first branded clothing called the Makaveli Branded Clothing. It was launched in late 2003, 7 years after the death of her son. The brand’s purpose is keeping the legacy of Tupac Shakur alive through fashion. A portion of each sale from Makaveli Branded is donated to the TASF and Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Makaveli is still hailed as one of the most popular artists in the music industry as of 2006.

California Pedestrian Accident Lawyer’s Top Ten Last Things You Least Want to Do to Avoid Being in a Ca Pedestrian Accident

March 29th, 2011 No comments

1. Tie your shoes in the middle of a busy street.

2. Wear dark clothing on a moonless night on a pitch dark street.

3. Chase a baseball in the middle of a busy intersection.

4. Go for a long pass down a busy highway.

5. Chase after cars like dogs do.

6. Try to hop onto a moving car.

7. Hop out of a moving truck.

8. Lose your train of thought when you see a sexy billboard.

9. Lose your train of thought when your cell phone rings.

10. Drop your phone down the sewer and try to reach it with your legs out in the roadway.

Here are ten useful tips of advice from a California pedestrian accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a pedestrian accident in California, or any city in CA, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it’s probably been at least a few days since the accident. However, if it’s only been a few hours or if you ever have another accident, here’s what you should do the next time from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a good California pedestrian accident lawyer as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the California attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good California pedestrian accident lawyer can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having a California attorney, think again. A good California pedestrian accident lawyer can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most California pedestrian accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s good advice to retain a California attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your California lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.
