Where can I find information about dead relatives?

My dad committed suicide almost 12 years ago and I wanted to know if there is a website or place where I can get information about his death. Does the US and/or state of California even record everyone’s death???

Thanks for your help =)

In the United States, deaths are recorded by death certificates.

There are many websites online where you can search legal documents for a price.

    Yes.

First google his name, and use variations with the date of his passing also. Try his name on ancestry.com also for free. You can also try familysearch.org for free, they have a lot of census and birth and death records.

It won’t give you more than the date and county of his passing.

You may find an obituary column also, but that will be in the county he passed away in in a library.
