Unlucky 7: Big Dems With Big Problems

While the midterm elections are still more than a year away, Republicans are beginning to lick their chops as rising unemployment rates, a record federal deficit and President Obama’s slipping support signal possible double-digit losses for Democrats in the House and key defeats in the Senate.

The GOP is aiming high, hoping to knock off some Democratic leaders, in addition to lawmakers with less seniority. The races are still wide open, and incumbents traditionally are tough to beat.

Here’s a look at seven of the biggest Democrats facing the biggest threats in the upcoming elections.

Harry Reid
The Senate majority leader is trailing two GOP candidates in next year’s race in Nevada.
Danny Tarkanian, a former University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball player and son of a legendary basketball coach, leads Reid 50 to 43 percent in a hypothetical head-to-head.
Sue Lowden, former chairwoman of the Nevada Republican Party who officially launched her campaign Thursday, is leading Reid 50 to 40 percent, according to a recent poll by Rasmussen Reports.
But many political analysts believe Reid will prevail because of his opponents’ lack of prominence.

Chris Dodd
The Connecticut senator, chairman of the Banking Committee and perhaps the most vulnerable Senate Democrat in 2010, is facing the toughest re-election fight of his nearly 30 years in Congress.
Polls show him trailing former GOP congressman Rob Simmons, and he’s also facing competition from Linda McMahon, wife of WWE executive Vince McMahon.
Dodd’s popularity has tumbled in the wake of the financial meltdown and his failed 2008 presidential bid. He provoked a home-state backlash after temporarily moving his family to Iowa before his poor showing in the caucuses there.
Dodd has been criticized for collecting Wall Street contributions while chairing the Senate banking panel. He’s also come under fire for his role in writing a bill that protected bonuses for executives at bailed-out insurer American International Group Inc. and for allegations he got favorable treatment on two mortgages with Countrywide Financial Corp.

John Murtha
The Pennsylvania Democrat, chairman of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been dogged by a federal corruption investigation into his ties to a Washington lobbying firm. And he has drawn national attention for being critical of his own constituents, once even suggesting that many of them are racist.
He is facing a well-heeled opponent, the third time since his criticism of the Iraq War gave Republicans ammunition.

Ike Skelton
The Missouri congressman, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is facing challenges from five Republicans in his first competitive race since being elected in 1976.
His rural district favored John McCain in last year’s presidential election by 60 percent.

David Obey
Obey, a longtime Wisconsin congressman, is chairman of the influential House Appropriations Committee and is considered the architect of the stimulus package that is at the center of a fierce partisan battle over the current economic recovery.
He faces tough GOP opposition from a local district attorney, Sean Duffy, who is a former star of MTV’s reality series "The Real World."
Duffy told the Washington Independent that he’d raised $140,000 for the third quarter, more than half as much as Obey’s challenger raised for the entire 2008 election cycle.

Barbara Boxer
The California senator, who has taken heat in recent months for clashes at Senate hearings, is facing a potentially tough election challenge from prominent businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who is within striking distance in a recent poll.
A Rasmussen Reports poll in the summer showed that Fiorina is trailing by only 4 percentage points in a hypothetical head-to-head with the three-term incumbent. The poll put Boxer’s support in such a face-off at only 45 percent, with 7 percent of survey respondents saying they’re undecided.

Blanche Lincoln
Lincoln took control of the agriculture committee after Sen. Tom Harkin was tapped to lead the health committee following Sen. Ted Kennedy’s death.
Lincoln, a moderate Democrat from Nebraska, is a staunch supporter of government farm subsidies, yet she faces a tough re-election in a decidedly conservative state that President Obama lost by 20 percentage points last year.
Her prospective Republican opponent, state Sen. Gilbert Baker, already has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for his campaign.

Dodd is probably in the biggest trouble.

Reid always seems to snake out a win.

Voters in California and in Murtha’s district are too stupid to vote either of them out.

The rest are a toss up.

i need help with a really huge essay?

December 19th, 2009 1 comment

i have to write a thousand word essay about the dangers of arson this is what i have so far
There are many dangers associated with arson. Arson can even result in death to you or other people. If you don’t already know arson is a felony and if you get a felony charge it stays on you record till your 30 years old. This can cause a lot of repercussions like if you plan on joining the military then you minus well forget that idea. Another major repercussion is not being able to leave the country a felony restricts you from getting a passport meaning no travel out of the country. One of the biggest dangers of arson is loss of life. No matter what you think you can’t really control fire in a split second the wind can change or some dangerous fumes leak into the ignition radius and boom depending on the chemicals you could cause an explosion with the power of a two hundred pound bomb. There are even dangerous chemical gasses that can be produced when you burn certain object they release chemicals like chlorine gas. Another very large danger of arson is property damage fire can be very destructive and destroy just about anything if exposed to it long enough. Another danger is losing control… for example the recent wild fire in California was a result of arson and the property damage is nearing the billion dollar mark and nearly 900,000 people displaced. The fires are blamed for 14 deaths and charred more than 508,000 acres, destroying about 1,600 homes. This arsonist who also burned over 38,000 acres of land was under the age of ten. He was just a child playing with matches. The ash alone poses an array of health problems do to the alkali contents in the ashes. The ash also poses a major mud slide and flooding threat to the houses remaining in the area. Here are some statistics:

-Arson is the leading cause of fires 267,000 annually in the United States and the second leading cause of deaths 475 and injuries 2000.
-Arson also causes 1.4 billion dollars in property loss each year. 50% of arson fires occur outdoors, 30% in structures, and 20% in ve¬hicles.
-Half of all arson arrests are under the age of 18. Vacant and abandoned buildings are targets for arsonists.
-Also poorer neighborhoods experience fourteen times the number of arsons as higher income neighborhoods.
-Church arsons increased sharply in 1996.
-There were a total of sixty two thousand four hundred and thirteen incidents from the year 2003 to 2006 in Las Vegas Nevada alone.
-Also in that time period three million six hundred seventy eight thousand eight hundred eighty four hundred dollars in damages were racked up from arson fires in Las Vegas.
– According to analysis of 1996–1998 data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System the dollar loss per arson fire was slightly higher than the average of all fires.
-Deaths and injuries were somewhat lower.
-Arson is the third leading cause for fire related deaths and injuries.

Arson isn’t only a danger to the arsonist and innocent bystanders they are a great danger to the fire fighters that are trying to put the fire out. In December 1999 six fire fighters died in a Worcester (MA) abandoned cold storage warehouse building fire. In the years 1997 to 2006 there were 1069 firefighter deaths reported by United States Firefighter Association.
any thing you think i could add i only have 559 word so what should i do what else should i talk about

See if this helps:

Tupac Amaru Shakur! World famous rapper!

Tupac Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in the Bronx, in New York City.
From childhood everyone called him the "Black Prince." Tupac never knew his father, and when he asked his mother about him she would say ‘I don’t know who your daddy is.’ Tupac’s childhood was very tough..When he was two, his sister, Sekyiwa, was born, but Sekyiwa’s father, Mutulu, (pacs step father) was sent to jail for sixty years for armed robbery. With him in prison, life was very hard for pac and his family, they lived in extreme povert yand constantly moved around. He said that his a mojor issue for him while growinh up was not fitting in because he was just from everywere and didn’t have any friends that he grew up with. He was very lonely and used to pass time by writing poetry and love songs. After moving to Baltimore at the age of 15, tupac began to rap, he started writing lyrics and walking like a gangster. Every one though he was cool because he came from New York. He called himself MC New York and made people think that he was a tough guy.

By the time Tupac was 21 he had already become a very successful
rapper. But in 1992 Tupac released his first solo album 2Pacalypse Now,
which put Tupac on the road to
fame. That same year he starred in a gangster film called Juice. In November 1994, Tupac was shot five times during a robbery in which thieves stole $40,000 worth of his jewelery. Tupac recovered from his injuries to make his best music ever, including the 1995 album Me Against the World, which sold two million copies, and the double-CD All Eyez on Me, which sold nearly three million. Just as Tupac was reaching the height of his fame and fortune he was shot and killed in Las Vegas after watching a Mike Tyson fight.
Tupac was shot four times in a drive by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on 7th September 1996. On September 13, 1996, six days after the shooting, Tupac died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest in a Las Vegas local hospital. This devastated many people around the world as he was an inspiring rap artist.

Tupac was known by a few other name. 2Pac, Makaveli and Pac. He is knoen in the Guinness Book of World Records as the top selling hip-hop artist having sold over 73million albums worldwide.

He had 6 albums released before he died, and a further 6 after he died. These were songs that were not yet released when he was still alive.

Tupac was absolutely amazing! I mean, when eminem was 25 he was working in a factory and had just 330 songs. Snoop Dogg? He had 313 songs but was sitting in prison at the age of 25. And 50Cent? He had 372 song, but was a gangster and wasn’t signed with any record label so was really doing it for nothing. Bur tupac Amaru Shakur? At the age of 25 he was killed! He had over 1000 songs and still more that have not yet been released. At 25 he was one of the worls most notorious rappers. Today he is still considered the best by so many people worldwide. Tupac had such a tough life and got through it all and became a KING! Even though he might not have been the greatest role model for youngsters he made it big. In my opinion there is only one word that could fully fit the the description of Tupac Amaru Shakur. That word is “LEGEND”

Studio albums

* 1991: 2Pacalypse Now
* 1993: Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.
* 1994: Thug Life: Volume 1
* 1995: Me Against the World
* 1996: All Eyez on Me
* 1996: The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory

Posthumous studio albums (after death)

* 1997: R U Still Down? (Remember Me)
* 1999: Still I Rise
* 2001: Until the End of Time
* 2002: Better Dayz
* 2004: Loyal to the Game
* 2006: Pac’s Life

Your punctuation is fine. Be sure and correct your few spelling mistakes.

I want to know:

How do Mormons view Reid?

How does the state of Nevada feel about Reids comments?

Personally I cant stand him. After I researched his voting record, I realized that he is a man of contradictions.
He voted against a ban on assault wepons.
He voted for the Brady Bill
He is pro-life
He advocates the death penalty
He opposes the tax breaks for big oil companies
He opposes gay marriage
He has a lousy stance on illegal immigration

YOU BEEN- Gee dumbas.s, that was before Reid made his rants much like yours. And in regards to the email that you sent me, no! Im not into homosexual men but thanks for the offer I guess. Im sure somebody great will come your way.
NOT SO DEEP THOUGHT- So, your answer is that you dont know, right?

2Pac ft Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight (Only Fear of Death)

2Pac ft Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight (Only Fear of Death)
D to Da Z Productions
Edited by: Drazan aka Drazo

Philip David Charles “Phil” Collins LVO (born 30 January 1951)[1] is an English[ singer-songwriter, drummer, keyboardist and actor best known as a drummer and vocalist for English progressive rock group Genesis and as a solo artist.

Collins sang the lead vocals on eight American chart-toppers between 1984 and 1989; seven as a solo artist and one with Genesis. His singles, often dealing with lost love, ranged from the drum-heavy “In the Air Tonight”, to the dance pop of “Sussudio”, to the political statements of his most successful song, “Another Day in Paradise”. His international popularity transformed Genesis from a progressive rock group to a regular on the pop charts and an early MTV mainstay. According to britishhitsongwriters.com he is the forty-eighth most successful songwriter in U.K. singles chart history based on weeks that his compositions have spent on the chart.[5]

Collins’s professional career began as a drummer, first with obscure rock group Flaming Youth and then more famously with Genesis. In Genesis, Collins originally supplied backing vocals for front man Peter Gabriel, singing lead on only two songs: “For Absent Friends” from 1971’s Nursery Cryme album and “More Fool Me” from Selling England by the Pound, which was released in 1973. On Gabriel’s departure in 1975, Collins became the group’s lead singer. As the decade closed, Genesis’s first international hit, “Follow You, Follow Me”, demonstrated a drastic change from the band’s early years.

His concurrent solo career, heavily influenced by his personal life, brought both him and Genesis commercial success. According to Atlantic Records, Collins’s total worldwide sales as a solo artist, as of 2002, were 150 million. He has won seven Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and two Golden Globes for his solo work.

Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 September 13, 1996), also known by his stage names 2Pac (or simply Pac) and Makaveli, was an American rapper. He has sold 75 million albums to date and is one of the best-selling music artists in the world.[3] In addition to his status as a top-selling recording artist, Shakur was a promising actor[4] and a social activist. Most of Shakur’s songs are about growing up amid violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, problems in society and conflicts with other rappers. Shakur’s work is known for advocating egalitarianism. Shakur was initially a roadie and backup dancer for the alternative hip hop group Digital Underground.]

Shakur became the target of lawsuits and experienced other legal problems. He was later shot five times and robbed in the lobby of a recording studio in New York City. Following the event, Shakur grew suspicious that other figures in the rap industry had prior knowledge of the incident and did not warn him; the controversy helped spark the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry. Shakur was later convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to one and half to four and a half years in prison.[8][9][10] After serving eleven months of his sentence he was released from prison on an appeal financed by Marion “Suge” Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records. In exchange for Suge’s assistance, Shakur agreed to release three albums under the Death Row label.

On the night of September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died six days later of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at the University Medical Center.

What do U think 3 plead guilty after illegal immigrants held for ransom?

December 11th, 2009 5 comments

Three men have pleaded guilty to holding seven illegal immigrants in a Las Vegas motel room against their will.

The seven people were being held for ransom, U.S. District Attorney for Nevada Greg Brower said in a statement.

Court records show that in April, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents received information that people who had crossed the border illegally from Mexico were being held in Las Vegas. The captors had contacted the victims’ family members and said they needed to pay $2,800 for each victim’s release, the district attorney said.

After an investigation, law enforcement agents and ICE officials determined through telephone records the victims were being held in a room at the Aruba Motel, 1215 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

On April 23, officers entered the motel room where the group was staying. They found 12 people, five of whom were the captors, Brower said. All 12 were taken into custody, and agents determined that 11 of them were illegal immigrants, seven of whom were smuggled into the United States for a fee, the district attorney said.

Felipe de Jesus Flores-Villela, 33, entered a guilty plea Wednesday and Victor Manual Morales-Velazquez, 22, and Angel Rigoberto Uribe-Ibarra, 48, entered guilty pleas Thursday. The men each pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to harbor illegal aliens for private financial gain. A fourth man charged in the case, Orlando Jimenez, 21, is scheduled to enter a guilty plea to the same charge on Tuesday and a fifth man, Gerardo Perez-Villegas, 21, is awaiting trial.

All of the defendants, except Jimenez, who is a U.S. citizen, are Mexican nationals who entered the United States unlawfully, the district attorney said.

The men required the victims to contact family members, or to provide contact information for family members so they could contact them for ransom, investigators said. The men subjected the victims to physical assault and intimidation, displayed firearms and other weapons to intimidate the victims and made threats of death and physical violence to coerce them to persuade family members to pay the ransoms, the district attorney said.

Investigators found three pellet firing replica pistols and an automatic-opening bladed knife in the motel room, authorities said. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 6.

These are the people in "good standing" who want amnesty.
It’s only Americans who take advantage of these "poor, hard working" people.

Someone already said it, but it bears repeating—Anything for a buck.

If you are tired of reading this type of question dont click on it to read and answer, Go read a book or something! You know when you see the avatar that this person does not support illegal aliens, but you still click on it and then whine.

James Livingstone emigrated from Glasgow region c 1872. Travelled to America, where when arrived, what ship?

December 9th, 2009 2 comments

James Livingstone would have been aged abt 44 when he left Scotland for America. Thought to have worked at Goldhill, Nevada before going to Rock Creek, Otoe, Nebraska where he bought land and Married Euphemia, born in Canada to Scottish parents. They had several children. James is shown in American Census as being 73 in 1900. Then there is an enigmatic entry that states that he had died in 1901, and his spouse?, Grace Ballantyne was deceased. Problem is, Grace Ballantyne is known to have died in Scotland in 1901 and James Livingstone (the same man?) died six months later. Are the records stating that James sailed back to Scotland aged 73 leaving his American wife Euphemia behind. Perhaps Euphemia was trying to get a pension from the American Government and the Government needed James’ death confirmation. Perhaps there are shipping lists for the late 1900’s early 1901 from America to the UK showing that James did actually sail. Perhaps there are descendants in America know real story?

You mention that he married Euphemia, a Canadian. Well, there seem to be a few references in the Canadian records to a James LIVINGSTONE on ancestry.com , but the actual manifest is not there and I am not familiar with acquiring Canadian immigration records. Do you think he might have made a pit stop in Canada prior to entering the U.S.?

Also, there is a record of a James LIVINGSTONE who seems to fit your parameters entering the U.S. in Boston and departing from Nova Scotia. The actual manifest does not mention Scotland and his occupation is listed as "mech". There is no additional info. on the actual manifest to help you out more to really figure out if it is your "James" or not. Where was Euphemia from in Canada? If it is NS than maybe this is a hit? Burn in hell suge, see what he’s been up to?

December 3rd, 2009 6 comments

There is plenty of evidence to put this man away, First Pac Now Melissa Isaac plus many others

Marion Knight was born in Compton, California. His name, Suge (pronounced /???/), derives from "Sugar Bear", a childhood nickname.[1] He remained an excellent student and athlete, so much so that he won a football scholarship to University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he played collegiate football for several years.[2] After school, he played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams as a replacement player during the 1987 NFL strike.[3] Later, he found work as a concert promoter and a bodyguard for celebrities including Bobby Brown. Knight’s legal problems began in 1987 when he faced auto theft, concealed weapon and attempted murder charges, ultimately receiving probation. Two years later, he formed his own music-publishing company, and allegedly made his first big fortune in the business by coercing Vanilla Ice into signing over royalties from his smash hit "Ice Ice Baby" owing to material that he supposedly sampled from one of Knight’s company associates. (The possibly apocryphal story holds that Knight held Ice by his ankles off of a 20th-floor balcony, though in Ice’s version, the threat was more implied.) Knight next formed an artist management company and signed prominent West Coast hip hop artists The D.O.C. and DJ Quik.
Through the former, he met several members of the seminal gangsta rap group N.W.A. In 1993, Suge would have a son, Andrew, born on April 19, sharing the same birthday as him. Andrew is currently living in Greater Los Angeles area with his mother, "Tia". Another son, Taj, is said to be living in Atlanta with his mother, Davina Barnes. Most recently, a daughter, Bailei, with R&B singer Michel’le.[4]
Death Row Records

The logo for Death Row Records is a blindfolded man strapped into an electric chair
Dr. Dre of N.W.A wished to depart from both his group and their label, Ruthless Records, run by Eazy-E, another member of N.W.A. According to N.W.A’s manager Jerry Heller, Knight and his henchmen threatened Heller and Eazy-E with pipes and baseball bats in order to secure Dre’s release[5]. Ultimately, Dre co-founded Death Row Records in 1991 with Knight, who famously vowed to make it "the Motown of the ’90s."
For a time, Knight made good on his ambitions: He secured a distribution deal with Interscope, and Dre’s 1992 solo debut, The Chronic, became one of the most influential rap albums of all time[6]. It also made a star of Dre’s protégé, Snoop Doggy Dogg, whose debut album, Doggystyle, was another smash hit in 1993[7]. As Dre’s signature G-funk production style became an influential part of hip-hop, Death Row became a reliable brand name for gangsta rap fans, and even its lesser releases sold consistently well.
Meanwhile, Death Row had begun a public feud with 2 Live Crew’s Luther Campbell, and when Knight traveled to Miami for a hip-hop convention in 1993, he was apparently seen openly carrying a gun. The following year, he opened a private, by-appointment-only nightclub in Las Vegas called Club 662, so named because the numbers spelled out MOB, Knight’s gang affiliation, on telephone keypads. In 1995, he ran afoul of activist C. Delores Tucker, whose criticism of Death Row’s glamorization of the "gangsta" lifestyle may have helped scuttle a lucrative deal with Time Warner.
The addition of Tupac

Additionally, Knight’s feud with East Coast impresario Sean Combs (aka P Diddy) took a nasty turn when Knight insulted the Bad Boy label honcho on air at the Source Awards in August 1995. Openly critical of Puffy’s tendency of ad-libbing on his artists’ songs and dancing in their videos, Knight announced to the audience of recording artists and industry figures, "Anyone out there who wanna be a recording artist and wanna stay a star, but don’t have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos, all on the records, dancing, come to Death Row."
The same year, Knight offered to post a hefty bail for Tupac Amaru Shakur if the troubled rapper agreed to sign with Death Row. Shakur agreed, setting the stage for his 1996 blockbuster double album All Eyez on Me and the smash hits "California Love" and "How Do U Want It." Shakur helped Death Row stay on top of a marketplace that was already shifting back toward the East Coast, which had devised its own distinct brand of hardcore rap.
The loss of Dr. Dre and Tupac

However, the label suffered a major blow when Dr. Dre, frustrated with the company’s increasingly thuggish reputation and Knight’s violent inclinations, decided to leave and form his own label. A stream of Dre-dissing records followed, but things turned tragic in September 1996, when Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.
When Shakur’s East Coast rival, The Notorious B.I.G., was murdered in a similar fashion in March 1997, speculation immediately arose that Knight was involved and that B.I.G.’s death was a revenge killing; although former Dea

Dang who would have thought. That is so deep….when Suge falls, he’s gonna fall hard for the things he have done. So sad.
