scared to death about criminal record?

i have a lengthy criminal record that i’m ashamed of. im only 24 and spent a year in rehab. two nights ago i busted because someone had a pipe in my car and i had to take the rap for it. whatever the case the only thing i had going for me was that i completed a year of christian rehab and now everything is ruined. Im from tn and am going to be going to a school for finance in florida so i have two more years before i start looking for a professional job. I’m scared to death that my record which includes one felony will prevent me from ever having a finance job. im getting a ba degree will I be able to find anything. I have been crying all day and have lost almost all hope.
let me correct this it was my weed pipe.i just im not a drug addict i was only smoking alittle bit. i just didnt want it to come off sound horrible

Dont worry dude, tons of people get exeptions and jobs of all sorts. First off, your way better off then lots of people. People would kill to be you.

It gets better, trust me

I suggest you continue your recovery and stay focused on your education goals. That will keep you motivated. You should look into after a period of time seeking to have your record expunged. You need to file a "motion for criminal record expungement." You either need to hire an attorney or go to the county in which you case was go through the public defender’s office. Do this after you got your degree because they will want to know why they should forgive you. Once or if your record is expunged, check with your state’s laws, and you may not have to disclose your offenses. Only government occupations can "unseal," and look at your criminal history.

I hope this helps and good luck. STAY OFF WEED! No matter what! If you attended a Christian Rehab facility then you know the church is always there. Also dump your old crew and avoid those who your remotely suspect of using. They will bring you down.

If you are serious about a job in finance (or a good job of any kind), you have GOT to change your life around. Saying "im not a drug addict i was only smoking alittle bit" is a lie. If you use drugs of any kind, you are a drug addict. With a criminal record, any potential employer will demand a drug test. It is time to come clean and sober, and I mean 100%. No "smoking a little bit". 100%. Since you have been crying all day about this, maybe this is your wake-up call to change.

First thing tomorrow, call your rehab counselor and tell him/her what happened. Ask for help. Then call NA and find the location of the next meeting. Then talk with your attorney.

If you can get clean and sober, stay that way, and complete your schooling, you might be able to petition the court to purge your criminal record. But you have to work at it. When you apply for a job, you need to be up-front about your past. Don’t let them find out during a background check. Explain that you made some serious mistakes in the past, and that you have worked hard to become a good person and a good citizen. Volunteer to take random drug testing.

If you have friends who do drugs, you need to eliminate them from your life now. You can turn your life around, you just have to do it. Good luck.
