Help tracing this family, Marie B Lund, Louis P Johnson, Louis Vego Johnson?

March 30th, 2011 4 comments

I am looking for anyone that can help me find some passenger or census records for this family.
The mother is Marie B Lund, born 1875 in Denmark. I have found her with husband and child in the 1910 Federal Census in King county, WA. It says that she came to the USA in 1889. Her death record of 7 may 1956 in Enumclaw, King, Washington states that her Father’s name is Lund and mothers name is Elizabeth Kjaerulf, both from Denmark. She most likely lived in Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1900.
Her husband, Louis Peter Johnson was born 12 Sep 1868 in Skeby, Fyn, Denmark. I have his passenger record and naturalization. He was naturalized in Cuyahoga County, Ohio in 1899. Came to this country in 1888. In the 1910 census he is living next door to his brother Johannes Jokumsen. Louis Peter Johnson’s birth name is Lars Peder Jokumsen, but he went by Louis or Lewis P Johnson while living in the USA. If anyone can find census records for this family, or death records it would be much appreciated. Louis and Marie probably married in 1906 in Ohio.
Their son is Louis Vego Johnson born 1906 in Ohio. He went by Vego Johnson. Also on the 1910 Census record with parents in Washington State. Any information on who he may have married or any children would be great. I think his wife may be Ella R Kodal.
Basically I am looking for:
1900 Census Record for Marie B Lund possibly in Ohio
1900 Census for Louis P Johnson, most likely in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Probably in the city of Lakewood or Rocky River,
1920 Census for Marie B Johnson nee Lund, Louis P Johnson, Louis Vego Johnson
1930 Census for Marie B Johnson nee Lund, Louis P Johnson
1930 Census for Louis Vego Johnson, Ella R Johnson nee Kodal

Sorry this is so long, I hope it is clearly stated.
In the 1920 and 1930 census the family most likely are still in the state of Washington.

Where is Leo Alfred Myers in 1910?

March 27th, 2011 2 comments

Leo Alfred Myers was born 22 Feb 1890 in Illinois. I have found him in 1900, 1920, 1930. I have his death record and his WWI Draft card. (Where he said 22 Feb 1885). I can’t find him in 1910. He may have been married by then; he may not. His first wife, Anna Mae/Fay Leslie, inconveniently died from complications of childbirth in 1929.

1900, Little Rock Ward 8, Pulaski, Arkansas:
Meyers, Alfred, head, Nov 1856, 43, Mich, Ohio, Ohio, tailor
Meyers, Lizzie, wife, May 1867, 33, Ind, Ireland, NY
Meyers, Leo, son, Feb 1890, 10, Ill, Mich, Ind <<<<<
Meyers, Parmer, son, Oct 1894, 15, Miss, Mich, Ind
Meyers, Jacob L, son, May 1897, 3, Miss, Mich, Ind

1920, Oakland, Alameda, California
Myers, Leo A, head, 35, Ill, Mich, Ind, machinist, shipyard
Myers, Anna F, wife, 26, Missouri, Ill, Ill
Note he’s still telling the world he was b. 1885, not 1890.

Widowed Leo Sr.:
1930, Township 11, Kern, California:
Meyers, Leo, head, Widowed, 40, Ill, Mich, Ind, engineer, shovel
Leo was 20 at first marriage

Semi-orphaned Leo Jr:
1930, Redwood City, San Mateo, California:
Brown, William, head, 64, Ky, Ky, Ky, electrician, dredging Co
Brown, Ann E, wife, 63, Indiana, N, Ireland, NY
Myers, Leo A, gr-son, 6/12, Calif, Ill, Kentucky

William Brown is Ann Elizabeth McCartney’s second husband. Ann’s first husband was Alfred Myers, who we saw in 1900. Ann uses Ann, Anne, Annie, Elizabeth and Lizzie as her whimsy strikes her, the wild fey creature.

Anna Mae/Fay Leslie says she is b. Missouri in 1920. The informant then was probably her husband or her. Her son’s 1930 says she was b. in Kentucky. The 1930 informant is probably her mother-in-law or her step-father-in-law. I’m thinking Missouri is the right one. The 1910, if I’m l’m lucky, will confirm one or the other; it may say Ohio or Arkansas, too.

Enlisted in the Army Nov 1 1907 at McDowell (Fort), CA by Lt Caswell in San Francisco, CA for 3 yrs as Leo A Myers born Chicago IL age 22 yr 8 mos occ: Rodman 6th Cav Co K and discharged Oct 31 1910 Ft Des Moines Iowa, Exp ser Sargt very good solider.
U.S Army Enlistments 1798-1914 or
Register of Enlistments in the U.S. Army, 1798-1914; (NARA M233, 81 rolls); Records of the Adjutant General’s Office, 1780’s-1917, Record Group 94; National Archives, Washington, D.C.

In 1910 at Ft Des Moines (Troop K 6th Cavalry) in Bloomfield, Polk County Iowa listed in Ancestry’s index a Lee W Myen and corrected to Leo W Myen but age is 20 yr single born Illinois, father in Michigan and mother in Indiana – Solider in US Army

If someone has a "death record" on archives.com, does that necessarily mean they’re dead?

March 21st, 2011 1 comment

This morning, as I have many times before, I did a search for my old 7th grade history teacher from 14 years ago (96-97), only to be redirected to a page demanding my Credit Card Number which I shall not give! They promised a "free trial," but I didn’t even attempt to proceed because I’m afraid it might not be as "free" as they say it is. But still, I kept searching for records on Ron Kolodzy (as well as Ronald J. Kolodzy and other forms of his name), and it kept telling me the same thing — that he has 1 birth, 1 marriage, 1 divorce, and 1 death record that cannot be accessed without membership to archives.com. So is there any possibility that this is a mistake or something standard they use to try to hook you? I’ve tried doing similar searches with other names but didn’t find any records in that box. So could you please tell me if it is possible that 53-year-old Ron Kolodzy in Texas, born on April 29th of 1957, is still alive? Is there any hope that he isn’t really dead? And what can I do to find out more information about him if he really is? How do I find-out when he died, what from, and where he’s burried if it turns out to be true that he has passed away?

When u do searches that result in an immediate response for your credit card info, aren’t technically completing your request.. (so 9 out of 10, it’s just a default response)but maybe you should higher an investigator or try to locate family members to be certain… or look up the obituary in the news paper for that timeframe… wish u luck…

WHERE CAN I FIND FREE DEATH RECORDS?

March 18th, 2011 3 comments

my boyfriends mom died about, 10 years ago in San antonio Texas. and when i look for an obituary or death record it wont show up anything. but when i people search her it brings her up. what is a good website where i could possibly read details… or just see an obituary or something. thank you

You won’t find her death record on line, for privacy’s sake.

You might find her obituary in the library, in old newspapers on microfilm.
About one find-a-grave entry in 20 has an obituary attached; you could try it.
http://www.findagrave.com

If you don’t live close enough to San Antonio to visit the library, you can send them a small check ($5 ought to do it) and a SASE and they will either send it to you or return your check.

You can probably find her exact death date here:

Can anyone get a copy of a birth/death certificate?

Yes and yes. Some states actually have websites you can get these from. Check the website for the Recorder for the county in which the birth/death occurred.

Name, Osvaldo Chavez – Death November 4th 2010 and location is somewhere in california he is 38…..

It is way too early for this individual to be showing up in any death index. It takes about a month for the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) to be updated, for example, and, even then, some individuals never show up in an index for one reason or another. We could look for an obituary, but California is a BIG state with a LOT of major newspapers… an impossible search without knowing the general place of death. Also, in some cases, the deceased does not get an obituary or death notice.

You will just have to wait until the next SSDI update. In the meantime, you and your aunt might try learning more about Osvaldo’s alleged place of death. Does he have family members that you can ask?

How do I find a death record?

August 2nd, 2010 3 comments

I never knew my real father. My mother refuses to talk about it. I do know his name and that he lived and died in California. I want to know how do i find his death record. I went to the government website and got really confused. I just want to know if that’s where he died. How do I get Information?

Find out what region of CA your dad died and then go to the probate court for that region.

I believe my house is haunted. Is there a way to look up public records of a death or murder that took place?

Believe it or not, this place is pure evil. you can sense it in this house. your neck hair stands up. I’ve seen things and heard things. I’m just curious, because it would be nice to prove to people that something bad has happened here. thanks.

I take it that you live in an old house… Death certificates are public record in the United States, but the data may not be in computer search-able format so it may require a manual search. Contact the local vital statistics office and ask. A police or sheriff’s officer may know or be able to help you too.
