2Pac ft.Dr. Dre – California Love

April 12th, 2011 No comments

“California Love” is a hip hop song by 2Pac featuring Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman. The song was released as 2Pac’s comeback single upon his release from prison in 1995. A popular remix version of the song appeared on his 1996 double album All Eyez on Me. This is perhaps 2Pac’s best-known song and his most successful, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks (as a Double-A side single with “How Do U Want It”). The song was nominated for a posthumous Grammy Award as a Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (with Dr. Dre and Roger Troutman) in 1997. The song was actually written and performed by Roger Troutman in the Original Version of California Love, Tupac and Dr. Dre made a modern day version of the song.

The original version of the track was not available on any of Shakur’s studio albums, but it can now be found on Shakur’s compilation of Greatest Hits.

The tune was adapted from Joe Cocker’s song “Woman to Woman”, and “California knows how to party” lines listing Los Angeles County neighborhoods are sung by Roger Troutman. The vocals “In the City of Compton” and the other cities and “California knows how to party” is adapted from Ronnie Hudson and the Street People’s “West Coast Poplock”. The remix features sample from the song “Intimate Connection” by Kleeer written by Norman Durham and Woody Cunningham.

“California Love” was Shakur’s only entry on Rolling Stone’s 2004 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, ranked #346 and #51 on VH1’s countdown of the 100 Greatest songs of the 90s.

Michael Jackson – Is It Scary [Death Row Remix] (Unreleased) (1997)

March 28th, 2011 12 comments

Now this is a true DEATH ROW BOMB right here! Who would it thought that “The King Of Pop” – Michael Jackson will ever team up with the notorious Death Row Records for some Pop/G-Funk crossover.. But IT’S REAL AND IT’S FUNKY! So read the full story below about the making of this dopeness and bump that in your system to the fullest!!!

In 1997 Tommy D Daugherty was hired by Michael Jackson’s team via Worlds End Management to produce a remix for ‘Is It Scary’. Sony gave him the acapella. The goal was for the remix to have the Death Row sound.
While Tommy D was working on the remix, 5 armed people burst into The Enterprise Studio in Burbank, CA. They tied him up along with the other 9 staff members and Carl ‘Butch’ Small, who was a percussionist at Death Row Records and then robbed all the synthesizers, drum machine and bass.
MJ’s team stayed quiet about this event because they didn’t want negative publicity. The next day Tommy D had a session planned with KoRn but didn’t have his equipment anymore. Snoop Dogg heard about the incident and gave Tommy D a $5000 check to help him. The remix was done on July 17, 1997 but was never released…

Tupac’s Interview about the Beef with Bad Boy Records

I always say this beef wasn’t meant to be Pac over reacted at 1994 when he got shot he didn’t know who to trust. BIG and Pac should have sat down and talked about it,to squash this beef. But What can you do?

Please say your oppinion on this beef in the comments.

The East CoastWest Coast hip hop rivalry was a feud in the early-mid 1990s between artists and fans of the East Coast and West Coast hip-hop scenes. Seeming focal points of the feud were West Coast-based rapper 2Pac (and his label, Death Row Records), and East Coast-based rapper The Notorious B.I.G. (and his label, Bad Boy Records).

Death Row vs. Bad Boy

Any hip-hop artists out there who wants to be an artist and stay a star, and dont wanna have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos, all on the records, dancing Come to Death Row! — Suge Knight at The 1995 Source Awards

2Pac vs. The Notorious B.I.G.
2Pac
Who shot me? But ya punks didnt finish, Now ya bout to feel the wrath of a menace Nigga, I hit em up.

B.I.G
Who shot Ya? Separate the weak from the obsolete, hard to creep them Brooklyn streets, Its on nigga, f*ck all that bickering beef.

From late 1995 into early 1996, 2Pac would appear on numerous tracks aiming threatening and/or antagonistic slants at Biggie, Bad Boy as a label, and anyone affiliated with them. During this time, although Biggie never directly responded, the media became heavily involved and dubbed the rivalry a coastal rap war, reporting on it continuously. This caused fans from both scenes to take sides with one set of The songs harsh content was viewed by detractors as Shakur having gone too far and taking the feud to another level. Although Biggie denies directly responding to 2Pac, many of B.I.G.’s songs can be speculated as being an answer to Shakur’s slurs.

Could it be my destiny to be lonely?
And checkin for these hoochies that be on me cause they phony
But you was different — I got no need to be suspicious
Cause I can tell — my life with you would be delicious
The way you lick your lips and shake your hips got me addicted
I’m sittin here hoping that we can find some way to kick it
Even though I got your digits gotta struggle to resist it
Slowly advance when its my chance not to miss it
You blow me kisses

Ehtart ashky wala ahky wala abky men farhety
Men shoay leek ya habeebi bady tekoon fi youm men esmety(x2)

Ya ahla donya eshtaha fey el kon be halo
Fey ainaik layaly asheataha awal ma malo(x2)

Kelmet ya omry oltaha lahzet loana
Marafsh alby lama shafak aih garalo

I see you remiscin and I hope you listenin
In the position to pressure and offer competition
Me and you — was meant to be my destiny, no longer lonely
Cause now it’s on for you and me, all I can see
A happy home, that’s my fantasy
But my reality is problems with your man and me
What can I do? Don’t wanna lose you to the sucker
Cause if he touch ya, I got some drama for that busta
Don’t wanna rush ya

Tol omry khayfa aheb waeshaq zay kol enas
Leany mamloksh fi hayati ghair habet el ehsas(x2)

Shoftak malakt kol shee feya be sawany
alemt alby ezay yeheb w yaaraf el ekhlas

Ehtart ashky wala ahky wala abky men farhety
Men shoay leek ya habeebi bady tekoon fi youm men esmety (x2)

You ain’t got to go through all this drama and this stress
with this old half a man, yaknowhat I’m sayin?
I ain’t tryin to put you in a position
where you gotta give up your lifestyle for everything
you need but now.. he ain’t even takin care of you
He beatin on you and shit; look how you look
She wanna be with that nigga, ya know what I’m sayin?
Shake that sucker to the left
Let me show you what this life is really about
YaknowhatI’msayin? You need to be on first class
Need to be goin to Hawaii, seein the world
Seein what this world got to offer you
Not goin to, yaknowhatI’msayin?
The emergency room, gettin stitches
cause this nigga done got jealous
Don’t cry, it’s all good
