OBAMA
Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996, succeeding State Senator Alice Palmer as Senator from the 13th District, which then spanned Chicago South Side neighborhoods from Hyde Park-Kenwood south to South Shore and west to Chicago Lawn.[26] Once elected, Obama gained bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws.[27] He sponsored a law increasing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiated welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare.[28] In 2001, as co-chairman of the bipartisan Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Obama supported Republican Governor Ryan’s payday loan regulations and predatory mortgage lending regulations aimed at averting home foreclosures,[29] and in 2003, Obama sponsored and led unanimous, bipartisan passage of legislation to monitor racial profiling by requiring police to record the race of drivers they detained and legislation making Illinois the first state to mandate videotaping of homicide interrogations.[28][30]

Obama was reelected to the Illinois Senate in 1998, and again in 2002.[31] In 2000, he lost a Democratic primary run for the U.S. House of Representatives to four-term incumbent Bobby Rush by a margin of two to one.[32][33]

In January 2003, Obama became chairman of the Illinois Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee when Democrats, after a decade in the minority, regained a majority.[34] During his 2004 general election campaign for U.S. Senate, police representatives credited Obama for his active engagement with police organizations in enacting death penalty reforms.[35] Obama resigned from the Illinois Senate in November 2004 following his election to the US Senate.[36]

In mid-2002, Obama began considering a run for the U.S. Senate, enlisting political strategist David Axelrod that fall and formally announcing his candidacy in January 2003.[37] Decisions by Republican incumbent Peter Fitzgerald and his Democratic predecessor Carol Moseley Braun not to contest the race launched wide-open Democratic and Republican primary contests involving fifteen candidates.[38] Obama’s candidacy was boosted by Axelrod’s advertising campaign featuring images of the late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and an endorsement by the daughter of the late Paul Simon, former U.S. Senator for Illinois.[39] He received over 52% of the vote in the March 2004 primary, emerging 29% ahead of his nearest Democratic rival.[40]

Obama’s expected opponent in the general election, Republican primary winner Jack Ryan, withdrew from the race in June 2004.[41]

In July 2004, Obama wrote and delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.[42] After describing his maternal grandfather’s experiences as a World War II veteran and a beneficiary of the New Deal’s FHA and G.I. Bill programs, Obama spoke about changing the U.S. government’s economic and social priorities. He questioned the Bush administration’s management of the Iraq War and highlighted America’s obligations to its soldiers. Drawing examples from U.S. history, he criticized heavily partisan views of the electorate and asked Americans to find unity in diversity, saying, "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America; there’s the United States of America."[43] Broadcasts of the speech by major news organizations launched Obama’s status as a national political figure and boosted his campaign for U.S. Senate.[44]

In August 2004, with less than three months to go before Election Day, Alan Keyes accepted the Illinois Republican Party’s nomination to replace Ryan.[45] A long-time resident of Maryland, Keyes established legal residency in Illinois with the nomination.[46] In the November 2004 general election, Obama received 70% of the vote to Keyes’s 27%, the largest victory margin for a statewide race in Illinois history.[47]

U.S. Senator, 2005–present

Obama was sworn in as a senator on January 4, 2005.[48] Obama was the fifth African American Senator in U.S. history, and the third to have been popularly elected.[49] He is the only Senate member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Obama might as well have spent those years as a bus boy. That experience is just as relevant. Palin has exec experience which is the most relevant exp anyone can have to be Pres. Why dont people get that a Senator does not do what a Pres needs to do?

I am amazed that Obama has come out and complained that she has no foreign policy experience when he has none either. What a schmuck.

Incorrect. Obama didn’t do much in his state. To advance Obama’s career, a Democrat leader put Obama’s name on all high profile bills just so he could say he has accomplishments.

From the article: Barack Obama and Me
"Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills. .. During his seventh and final year in the state Senate, Obama’s stats soared. He sponsored a whopping 26 bills passed into law — including many he now cites in his presidential campaign when attacked as inexperienced. …
It was a stunning achievement that started him on the path of national politics — and he couldn’t have done it without Jones. … Before Obama ran for U.S. Senate in 2004, he was virtually unknown even in his own state. Polls showed fewer than 20 percent of Illinois voters had ever heard of Barack Obama."

I just don’t like your question. Boo on you.

You could have put as much about either of the Republicans as you did the Democrats if you were balanced in your research.

It just shows that you, like so many are brainwashed.

Obama Biden, but not for experience, but for good judgement and sound morals. These two, Obama and Biden, are two of the most honest men in politics.

McCain cheated on his first wife and left her for a younger rich woman. Palin is being investigated for ethics violations.

    OBAMA BIDEN HANDS DOWN!

This is exactly why I’m beginning to think we need some new blood in our government. I am not contesting McCain’s experience. Good for him. But we need change and growth. Not stagnation to where the U.S. turns into a third world sh*t hole. If we keep going down the path we’re going – that’s exactly where we’ll end up.

    LOL
obama is an employee, Palin has been BOSS!!! for 10 years of her 16 political years
    References :
obama started in politics in 1996
    Palin started in 1992

    here ya go…
Palin began her political career in 1992, running for Wasilla City Council as a supporter of the controversial new sales tax and with the goal of "a safer, more progressive Wasilla." [8] She won and would serve two terms on the council from 1992 to 1996. In 1996, she challenged and defeated incumbent mayor, John Stein, criticizing wasteful spending and high taxes.[3] In January 1997, Palin fired the Wasilla police chief and library director. In response, a group of 60 residents calling themselves Concerned Citizens for Wasilla discussed attempting a recall campaign against Palin, but then decided against it.[9] The fired police chief eventually sued Palin on the grounds that he was fired because he supported the campaign of Palin’s opponent, but his suit was eventually dismissed when the judge ruled that Palin had the right under state law to fire city employees, even for political reasons.[10] Palin followed through on her campaign promises to reduce her own salary, and to reduce property taxes by 60%.[3] She ran for reelection against Stein in 1999, winning by an even larger margin.[3][11] Palin was also elected president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors.[12]

In 2002, Palin made an unsuccessful bid for Lieutenant Governor, coming in second to Loren Leman in a five-way race in the Republican primary. After Frank Murkowski resigned from his long-held U.S. Senate seat in mid-term to become governor, Palin interviewed to be his possible successor.[citation needed] Murkowski appointed his daughter, then-Alaska State Representative Lisa Murkowski.[3]

Governor Murkowski appointed Palin Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission,[13] where she served from 2003 to 2004 until resigning in protest over what she called the "lack of ethics" of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders, who ignored her whistleblowing complaints of legal violations and conflicts of interest.[14][3] After she resigned, she exposed the state Republican Party’s chairman, Randy Ruedrich, one of her fellow Oil & Gas commissioners, who was accused of doing work for the party on public time, and supplying a lobbyist with a sensitive e-mail.[15] Palin filed formal complaints against both Ruedrich and former Alaska Attorney General Gregg Renkes, who both resigned; Ruedrich paid a record $12,000 fine.[3]

    Governorship

Running on a clean-government campaign in 2006, Palin upset then-Governor Murkowski in the Republican gubernatorial primary.[3] In August, she declared that education, public safety, and transportation would be three cornerstones of her administration.[16] Despite the lack of support from party leaders[citation needed] and being outspent by her Democratic opponent, she won the gubernatorial election in November, defeating former Governor Tony Knowles 48.3% to 40.9%.[3]

Palin became Alaska’s first woman governor and, at 42, the youngest in Alaskan history. Palin was also the first Alaskan governor born after Alaska achieved U.S. statehood and the first not to be inaugurated in Juneau, instead choosing to hold her inauguration ceremony in Fairbanks. She took office on December 4, 2006.

Highlights of Palin’s tenure as Governor include a successful push for an ethics bill, and also shelving pork-barrel projects supported by fellow Republicans.[citation needed] Though she initially expressed support for the Gravina Island Bridge project,[17] once it had become a nationwide symbol of wasteful earmark spending and federal funding was lost, Palin decided against filling the $320 million gap with state money.[18][19] "Alaska needs to be self-sufficient, she says, instead of relying heavily on ‘federal dollars,’ as the state does today."[20]

She has challenged the state’s Republican leaders, helping to launch a campaign by Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell to unseat U.S. Congressman Don Young[21] and publicly challenging Senator Ted Stevens to come clean about the federal investigation into his financial dealings.[18]

Palin frequently had an approval rating above 90% in 2007.[20] A poll published by Hays Research on July 28, 2008 showed Palin’s approval rating at 80%,[22] while another Ivan Moore poll showed it at 76%, a drop which the pollsters attributed to the controversial firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.[23]

I’m going to completely disregard this question. You want to know why? I’ll tell you.

First off, because you’re "proof" is completely one-sided. If you are going to have a serious question comparing experience, you would need to have equal (or nearly equal) reports on both the actions of Palin and McCain.

Sarah Palin has been the governor of Alaska for a little over two years. That gives her vital EXECUTIVE experience something that neither McCain, Biden, or Obama have.

If you’re ranting about Federal Government experience, then Obama has about 3.5, not 12…he was part of the Illinois STATE senate in 1996. When he was there, he did very little, and was known by only about 20% of Illinois voters. It was only in his last year as a state senator that his name started appearing on some bills. Why? Because senior senate members would tag his name onto the bill as either a main sponsor or other such title, and he would claim responsibility for it. So I think we can completely forget about his stint as an Illinois state senator.

Also, Sarah Palin has been governing her state for nearly every day she has been in office.

Barack Obama has been in attendance for 143 days since he was elected to the U.S. senate.

Now, do you REALLY want to argue about experience?

There is none to compare, none of them has ever served as president before, none of them has experienced being president before. like every job one can obtain experience only by doing the job, and there is no college course that teaches such a class. (How to be president of the USA 101)

One: Where is the 12 years of "FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LEVEL EXPERIENCE" you attribute to Obama? I see _in what you wrote_ that he was elected to the Senate in ’05, nothing before that.

Two: I see that he made a stirring speech about how "there is not a liberal America and a conservative America; there is a United States of America." How does that square with his joining the CBC? Apparently he believes we _do_ have a white America and a black America?

And I’ve never questioned his experience as much as his mantra.

Wait! Where’s the comparison? Typical Democrat, doesn’t know anything about the other side. And let’s not forget that in Obamas vast inexperience he has NEVER ACCOMPLISHED A DAMN THING!

Biden. 36 years of undistinguished career politics.

McCain in the service of his country his entire adult life. A plethora of legislation named after him. Has more experience crossing the isle and voting with Democrats than Obama has of voting with Democrats.

Sara Palin Elected to Mayor twice. Elected Governor of the State of Alaska for last two years. More executive experience than Obama and Biden combined!

Now that’s a comparison! And anyone who is capable of logical thinking will acknowledge that the McCain/Palin ticket beats the Obama/Biden ticket hands down.

Your question and the endorsement you list sighting Obamas qualifications are exactly what one should expect from a leftist stance. It’s extremely one sided, bias, over reaching and and is no more than a puffed up diatribe to polarize a narrow minded view of those who lack core values, understand the issues at play and the dangers this country and other free societies face today. Not to mention a cut and past job from another like minded idiot.
