Is Bush has at the nadir of his Presidency by OK a death penalty conviction and execution as President?

April 19th, 2011 4 comments

An extermly sick military veteran has been found guilty of murder and rape in more than one case, and President Bush has polished his record of being a hanging judge of Texas reputation by approving his execution. It is shame to put it perfectly. Bush is good at being a hard ass while he hides behind being a rich boy and a person never held responsible for any of his crimes. It can only be hoped that some day Bush jr will be held responsible for all that he is guilty for in the world today including the deaths of many young American kids in Iraq.

Well I am in agreement with you about Iraq but not sure about the person who has been condemn to death by guilt of rape and murder as the Governor of Texas could he not pardon the poor unfortunate man???I must make it clear I am against any form of capital punishment by anyone state or the killers they should not be killed of two wrongs do not make it right.

Can you put this in your own words?

im doing a project for english, and i wanted to see other peoples aspects on this peice of text.

There are serious economic consequences. Various state governments estimate that a single death penalty case, from the point of arrest to execution, ranges from $1 million to $3 million per case. Other studies have estimated the cost to be as high as $7 million. The millions of dollars spent on capital punishment cuts into resources for other community interests, such as schools, hospitals, public safety, and jobs. For example, Taxpayers in Florida are spending an average of $2.3 million on each execution which is over six times what it would cost for life without parole. In addition, New York brought back the death penalty in 1995, even though the department of corrections estimated that it would cost over $2 million per case and approximately $118 million annually. That same year, state leaders complained that there was a budget shortfall and made dramatic cuts in funding for public higher education and health care. Similarly, New Jersey spent $16 million to impose the death penalty. The next year, the state laid off 500 police officers because they could not afford to pay them.

The death penalty should be abolished because it involves a heightened risk or error. The risks of inaccurate judgment have been elevated because the death penalty has become a politicized issue that is commonly used in campaigns for judges and district attorneys who are elected to their positions. Those judges and prosecutors are motivated to sentence as many defendants to death as they possibly can to maintain a record of being “tough on crime.” Also, due to the high emotions surrounding murder cases, there is great pressure on law enforcement officials to solve homicides quickly. Such pressure may lead to misconduct by the investigators and prosecutors. In addition, murders frequently lack eyewitnesses, forcing the prosecutors to use less reliable sources for evidence, such as jailhouse snitches, accomplices looking for reduced sentences and coerced confessions from defendants. Because of these high risks there have been recent cases of mistaken execution or conviction. Leo Jones was convicted of murdering a police officer in Jacksonville, Florida on March 28, 1998. Jones signed a confession after several hours of police interrogation, but he later claimed the confession was coerced. In the mid-1980s, the policeman who arrested Jones and the detective who took his confession were forced out of uniform for ethical violations. The policeman was later identified by a fellow officer as an "enforcer" who had used torture. Furthermore, Texas executed Jesse Jacobs on January 4, 1995 despite the prosecution’s admission that arguments they made at Jacobs’ trial were false. Jacobs was convicted after the state introduced evidence that he, rather than his co-defendant, pulled the trigger on the day of the murder. At the following trial of the co-defendant, the state reversed its story and said it was the co-defendant, not Jacobs, who pulled the trigger. The prosecution vouched for the credibility of Jacobs’ testimony that he did not commit the shooting and did not even know that his co-defendant had a gun. Jacobs’ co-defendant was also convicted, but not sentenced to death.

The death penalty should not be allowed in this country. We have the resources to keep society safe from criminals, so, it is unnecessary to have such an inhuman and degrading punishment. This punishment does not deter crime. Giving in to it wastes essential money that destroys our economy. And, there also might be some reasonable doubt to someone’s guilt. The death penalty should be abolished.

In brief, the reading is someone’s opinion, against capital punishment, i.e., where states can administer the death penalty to convicted felons. (ie, murderers).

It says that the state should not have the power to do, what it will punish a criminal for doing. It also says that states will pay MORE for the "justice system", i.e, court costs to convict such a felon, more than would be paid, if the court system ONLY went to give "life" imprisonment.

That is, those who get the death penalty have more "overhead costs", paper work, more investigation and documentation required, than someone that is only going to be sent to prison say for 20-40 yrs, or a simple "life imprisonment" sentence.

These facts are computed from thousands of such cases. Jury trials are expensive, and there are more hours of lawyer costs in capital punishment cases.
Do you know what lawyers charge? Know how much money "expert" witnesses charge the state?

Taxpayers foot the bill (pay) for every murder case. But with a "capital case" conviction there are many more appeals and reviews. Likewise these cases get more publicity, and that means that prosecutors have to be more careful, not to mess up too.

Is Obama the weakest candidate on Crime ?

March 6th, 2010 7 comments

Of course McCain supports capital punishment. His record on Crime issues is near-perfect if we leave out the contentious illegal immigration issue. McCain is clearly the strongest on Crime. But what about Obama and Hillary?

When Hillary Rodham Clinton announced her campaign for the Senate in 2000, she declared – emphatically, according to an interviewer – that she supported the death penalty.

When Barack Obama first ran for the Illinois state Senate in 1996, he said in a campaign questionnaire that he opposed capital punishment.

Obama also opposes federal minimum sentencing, concealed carry, and other anti-crime measures. An Obama presidency would be a huge gift to criminals everywhere

Obama is very soft on crime. This country will have a huge hike in criminals if he gets elected. Another gift to his brothers.

what do you think of my paper?

Justice Should be Served: The Issue of Capital Punishment

The issue over capital punishment has been heavily debated for centuries. The death sentence originated from the Latin term ‘caput’ meaning head, and refers to the beheading of prisoners. In today’s society people who commit vicious crimes should also face the ultimate consequence for their actions. Though the form of punishment has transformed over the years, capital punishment continues to be fair and justified. The taxes paid by innocent Americans are being used to maintain the imprisonment of murders; equal justice should serve as the foundation for our judicial system, and the captivity of life-sentenced prisoners increases the probability of further damage and escape.
How does the American economy benefit from the death penalty? How do rapists and murders travel from the streets to an environment with roofs over their head? Edward Laijas makes a solid point about the government’s use of American tax dollars when he states: “Lets imagine there was no death penalty for a moment. The only reasonable sentence would be a life sentence. This would be costly to the taxpayers, not only for the cost of housing and feeding the prisoner but because of the numerous appeals, which wastes man-hours and money.” (Laijas 1) One example of this dilemma occurred with Ted Bundy’s stay on death row, which ultimately cost Florida taxpayers more than six million dollars. (Wofford 2) On average a prisoner who is sentenced to death row will serve nine and half years in prison until their execution. (Martinez 1) Thus, it is more economical for these inmates to be executed after the nine month period rather than maintenance them in prison for life, which will only waste space and government funds. Outside of the fact that American’s are forced to essentially support the life of these prisoners, there is also the issue of overcrowding. Abel Martinez comments in the article More economical than life sentence that, “At the end of 1992 State and Federal prisons reached a record high of 883,593 prisoners. This record means that approximately 1,143 prison bed spaces are needed per week due to overcrowding. To put this in an economic prospective, on the average each prisoner cost $22,000 per year, and the cost of new construction averages almost $54,000 per bed.” (Martinez 1)  Therefore, the death penalty not only eliminates the basic feeding and clothing of prisoners, but it also reduces the amount of physical construction, which is much more costly, of prisons.
The American Constitution is founded on equal rights for all citizens. The death penalty is a staple in our society and should be enforced with an equivalent purpose and justifi

well, it looks like it might be good if you finish it….

Where do YOU stand on Capital Punishment?

February 22nd, 2010 6 comments

First and foremost, I’m not seeking statistics, due to the fact that I have meticulously researched the Death Penalty, from the beheading of John the Baptist by order of King Herod for questioning the King’s desire to court his brother Phillip’s wife, Herodius..(because the wifey and daughter WANTED to have the king as their own)…to the recent overturning of the Supreme Court decision to allow Capital Punishment for Sex Offenders. What I’m looking for is your DEEPEST emotions….your true feelings about this facet of Justice in the United States. Any stats I quote are as accurate as possible….directly from sources such as the Uniform Crime Reports published by the F.B.I., as well as info I obtained by contacting the United States Department of Justice…..if you avoid the real question, and thrill me with your opinions of HOW I FEEL…I will rate you low, block you…and most likely reduce myself to a low level of distaste I don’t care for.
NOW FOR THE TRUTH>>>BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR FINAL DECISION…….
1. Each year….roughly $66 million tax dollars are spent to house, feed, clothe, medicate, and supply oxygen to the roughly 3,000 inmates presently under sentence of death in U.S. Prisons. For ythe average inmate, it costs approximately $22,000 a year….(which astounds me, because prisons are designed from the ground up, from the food, to the living quarters, to be as cost efficient as possible…in some instances…perilously close to in-humane conditions including but not limited to faulty plumbing which goes un attended for years…to food your dog would turn his nose up at.
2. Since 1976, when the moratorium on Capital Punishment was lifted, over 120 individuals have been exonerated and released from death row after new evidence proved innocence…or prosecutorial misconduct, lazy detectives, or unreliable witnesses were unearthed.
3. At the trial level, Death Penalty cases generate roughly $200,000 in legal expenses that the offender is, of course, not going to be responsible for…..especially if convicted….much more if the individual files personal restraint petitions (a facet of Habeas Corpus Law) and appeals.
4. 15 states, New Jersey being the most recent (2007), have abolished Capital Punishment altogether….My own native state of Michigan did so on March 1st, 1847….becoming the first English Speaking Territory to abolish Capital Punishment….as on of its first acts of Legislation as a State. On more than one occasion, a few of Michigan’s largest metropolitain areas have held national records for murder rates. Hmmm…I smell a rat.
5. As of 2006, the last publication of the Uniform Crime Reports until September 2010, there were 13,435 Non-Negligient Murders, 25,535 Forcible Rapes, and 87,252 Sex Offenses in the U.S….the Total number of Index Crimes (Murder, Rape, Robbery, Assault, Theft, Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary, and Arson) was at 14,380,370. "Yay Mommy, they’re gonna have to build yet another Prison on that State land me and Billy play on"……….Imagine that
6. Some cases of National fame…such as "The Green River Killer" result in Life Sentences for guys like Gary Ridgeway (Dude killed 48 people THAT WE KNOW OF!)…while others, crimes of passion and those teetering on the edge of self defense, have ended the lives of individuals who killed for a "justifiable reason".
MY PROPOSAL-
Okay folks…we all know this country has seen better days…those of you who don’t must live in a cave, or be wealthy enough to not give a flying rat’s arse. Perhaps we should take the $66 big ones away, Kill the killers, the rapists, the pedophiles (unequivocally guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, of course) and apply it to something worthwhile. Maybe Pedophiles and Rapists ARE EXACTLY WHAT THEY SEEM…MORALLY AND SOCIOLOGICALLY UNACCEPTABLE ANIMALS WHO SHOULD BE SLAUGHTERED. I could go on and on…if you read the 22 page dissertation I wrote (limited amount of pages thanks to my instructor) you would be sickened….I know I was. China has alot of Capital crimes….running a Prostitution ring or Taking Bribes ( ask Zheng Xiaou…former head of their Food and Drug Administration)…..Why is the U.S. so concerned with treating these individuals as if they merely stole a car, or robbed a bank with a damn licorice pistol? My idea is….Murderers deserve an eye for an eye….
Pedophiles deserve to take the Long Black Train as well, however, a touch of punishment applied to the motivational parts of their bodies involving a blowtorch and a 4,000 p.s.i. Power washer should preclude the "conductor" sending them on the ride to Purgatorial Peace……..and rapists should see the same fate…….
I WILL READ AND CONSIDER ALL ANSWERS…AND LOOK AT THEM FROM THE POINTS OF VIEW OF THE MASSES, HOWEVER…MY OPINION SHALL NOT DEVIATE FROM ITS PRESENT COURSE OF VIGILANT LOGIC……I TRULY LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY……35YRSINTUITION
VERY FUNNY SHATTER…..HAD THIS QUESTION INVOLVED SYMANTICS AND DOUBLE TALK….YOU MAY HAVE GOT A BEST OUT OF IT.
DEAD PARROT….YOUR INTELLECT PRECEDES YOUR IRRATIONALITY…HOWEVER…I SAID NO STATS BECAUSE I KNOW ALL OF THEM……THEY HAVE BEEN PROCESSED BY MY HIPPOCAMPUS….AND COMMITTED TO LONG TERM MEMORY…UNTIL 2010, THAT IS. LOOK AT IT FROM ALL ANGLES, FRIEND…..MONEY, PRESENT STATE OF AFFAIRS IN THE U.S., AND HOW IT WOULD FEEL TO HAVE YOUR KID KIDNAPPED, DEFILED, MURDERED…AND DISCARDED LIKE RUBBISH……THERE WAS A COMPLIMENT IN THERE SOMEWHERE….BTW…..FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. AND I MUST APOLOGIZE FOR ALL THE TYPOS….PASSION GIVES ME HAPPY FINGERS….ESPECIALLY WHEN I’M TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING SO ABSOLUTELY CONTROVERSIAL AND COMPELLING…….GOOD ANSWER THOUGH DPS……I RESPECT THE OPINIONS OF OTHERS…..I JUST DON’T BUDGE FROM MY OWN DUE TO THEM.
YUP..read the Bible cover to cover twice….not impressed by copies and pastes….but I did like the Old Testament better than the New…..if my blood had to be shed by man because I shed the blood of another for a transgression unforgivable….so be it….God Knows Me…..HE is still molding an imperfect lump of clay after 35 years…….and I share the name of Moses’ brother…..you know..the articulate one who never killed any Egyptians….

If someone has been arrested, tried and found guilty of a capital crime and the sentence is death, it should be carried out.

This BS of keeping someone on death row for years and years is an injustice to the low-lifes victims.

Do it.

Is Obama soft on crime?

January 20th, 2010 11 comments

While serving as an Illinois State Senator (the only real record Obama has), he continuously voted against strengthening laws against crime – especially gang crime (can’t imagine why?), or he simply voted "present", a trend that continues to this day. There are over 15,000 murders a year in the USA. That is roughly 15 times the death toll in Iraq – 15 TIMES! We need to start talking about this!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpUg4rcjQyM

Yah, and its also interesting that the gangs in South side of Chicago are so bad and out of control its at the point were Police are requesting Military weapons to fight them. The preachers like Wright, Pfleger and Farrakhan are teaching the black communities to Think whites owe them and telling them White people are the devil= at least Farrakhan says whites are the devil! So they are learning to HATE WHITES MORE! So that makes them feel like they are owed and its their DUTY to take from the whites and kill them!

Obama voted AGAINST capital punishment for Gang Members!
Gee wonder why Wrights CHurch Gave FARRAKHAN a lifetime achievment award, when they are not even supposable the SAME religion!
Wonder why a Catholic Father Pfleger is Preaching at Obamas X=Church of Christ ? Weird!
My link attached will tell you what went on at the MILLION MAN MARCH Obama and Wright and Farrakhan ALL ATTENDED!
