Family Tree question!?

November 9th, 2011 5 comments

I’m stuck on my great-great grandfather on my family tree. i have his birth year, his death year, his social security number, and I know he was in world war one. Ohio (his birthplace) didn’t start keeping birth records until 1908 though. is there anyway I can find out the name of his father? He was born in Ohio, but lived & died in Wisconsin. I just want to be able to find his father’s name. I don’t really care about anything else.

His SSN application, $27, should have his father’s name and his mother’s maiden name. His death certificate might have them. His marriage record might have them. The article about his wedding in the local paper’s society pages, on microfilm in the library, may have them.

You could post his name, DOB and the places he was born in and lived in (town, COUNTY, state) here and someone might find him on the census. That isn’t as good as the SSN app, but it is free. It isn’t as good because if he lived with an uncle and called him "Dad" because his parents died when he was young, he might be on the census with relation "son" instead of "nephew".

How can I find out the truth?

My grandpa died two months before i was born and just recently i found out from my Uncle that my father lied about my grandpa’s death. My dad said Gramps died in Illinois but my uncle said he died in Alabama and said something about police records. Nobody will tell me anything and its killig me to not know. How can I find the information I need? Please help me… Im desperate.

Track down your family history to figure out who your grandfather is from your dad’s or uncle’s background they should share the same father. It shouldn’t be that hard to be who your grandfather is. Go over and fidn your father’s birth certificate usually parents name are written on the certificate just to tell that the person have parents.

Could you sue a business if..?

May 31st, 2011 3 comments

Ohkay so my Family got a storage unit in Pennsylvania because that is where we lived, but my pap was on his death bed in Florida so we moved down there for three years. We paid every payment when we were down there. We moved back to P.A and when to get things out of there but we found out that they tore off a end unit beside ours and failed to patch up our side. The top was completely exposed and the cocking on the bottom was NOT done right. All our things were ruined. All our family videos, picture, sentimental things from family members that are dead, and things that were passed on through family. We have a video of what the unit looked like and all the openings. Well, we stoped paying because we were not going to pay for ruin things. They wanted us to sign that they worn’t responsible for any damage and then we could take it all, we are not stupid so we did not sign. Well, they sold EVERYTHING with out telling us. What would you do and what type of lawyer would you get? No where in the contract did they say that they were going to be negligent, so the contract is out the window I’d believe. It was there job to protect our stuff. Everything was moldy and there were spiders and snake skins and mouse droppings. We paid OVER 13,000$ for that place to take care of our stuff. We tried getting ahold of them before we stoped paying but you have no idea how hard it is to get ahold of someone high up. There has to be SOME type of legal actions to take. We have a video that shows how it was. My Dad recorded it. And the the papers we signed before hand stated they can’t sell anything without telling us, and they didn’t.

Yes, you can sue, and you will most likely win. Go to a competent lawyer, have a restraining order put against them for doing business until they can prove your stuff is no longer on their property. Sue the parent company, the company with whom you did business, and all management individually for breech of contract. They will most likely settle within days. Best of luck.

My widowed mother threatened to ditch me for Foster Care/City House care in Texas. Is it legally possible?

April 16th, 2011 2 comments

Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal if it was once, but this is the 5th time this year and she says she wants to kick me out because I’m a medical burden and rebellious.

She threatens to have a lawyer sign me over and have me live at city house with life insurance for my dad’s recent death. She also threatened foster care and abandonment in an Ikea store. I want to know if this is legal for her to do any of the above 3.

We have a CPS record for various things but nothing serious. She assaulted me 2 weeks ago but the police blew me off and told me to grow up.

Me: 15/Male/High School Student in texas. Suffering from various medical issues that have to be taken care of ASAP.
Mom: Widowed for a little over a year.

I would REALLY appreciate it if you informed me about the legality of these threats. It sounds possible but then again, don’t all parents want to ditch their kids?

Thanks!
We got into the arguments about my life-threatening case of pectus excavatum.

Yes some days all parents want to ditch their kids and go to the beach. Then the kids come screaming in the house and need lunch and the parents forget about it and tend to their little darlings. I am sorry she is verbalizing these things to you, she sounds like she is at the end of her rope and concerned that she cannot take care of you. Legal, I don’t know. Appropriate to say to your kids, NO. Hope you can find a counselor at your next school and talk to someone about how all this is affecting you.

Probating A Will In A Small Texas town?

March 27th, 2011 2 comments

My dad died this year living his ninety year old wife as executrix of his will, I was next if my stepmother was not able to serve. which she was not. she is well know in this because she was very active, everyone knows her mind is going. I have P.O.A, there was a hearig to declare her incompetent, the day of the hearing the lawyer that made the will presented to the judge he wanted the banker be repersenative for my stepm, without my knowledge or my lawyer’s. my lawyer told the judge he had made several attempts by ph, and mail without return, and the judge said you have not talked. I’ll give you a minute to talk. I went ahead an agree to this. I feel violated and disrepected. I wint to the bank and tried to get bank I was told my P.O.A. was not good death. I have an expiration on p.o.a 2030. I tried to get a statement of liens or judgement against. the person look in computer and the judge had the records. and it was not on the comp. Can they do this? the money dad gave me bef H D

1. I have no idea what a POA is.
2. Lots of small towns are crooked.
3. Suspicious that a "banker" (he who holds the accounts, huh?) is appointed to manage the s-mother’s affairs instead of a neutral third party.
4. Giving you ONLY one minute is expressed prejudice and grounds for an appeal
5. Records cannot be removed from a computer and given to a judge. The judge would recieve certified COPIES of the records.
6. Unless you are a moron and have irritated everyone in the town with loud whining and clumsy actions, you have grounds to blow this open.

You need another attorney and then let him/her handle this.

Just remember this. If the estate is small, the lawyers–even the good ones if you should find one (lots of luck) will eat the money up and no one will have anything.

How do I look at online records without having to pay at all for them?

March 15th, 2011 1 comment

I’m doing family history research, and I’ve been trying to look up birth, death, marriage, etc records. Every site I go to you have to pay SOMETHING for them. I want FREE online records that I can look at ONLINE without having to pay or get them shipped to my house.

My Mom said to look at court houses, but I can’t find our court houses online.
I live in Mississippi, but I’m looking for records in Pemiscot County of Missouri. That’s where most of my family moved to in the 1900’s on my Dad’s side. On my Mom’s side, I have no clue. Probably Tennessee because they were full Cherokee Indians. And she is half Cherokee Indian.

My Great Aunt has done my Dad’s side of the familys history all the way back to before the civial war, but she’s too picky to share with me any of it.

Anyway, if anyone knows a completely free website where you can look at ONLINE records, then please tell me. And remember NO PAYMENTS. NONE. lol. Most people that answer me always give me a website and they still have some kind of a payment on there. And I don’t want to have to pay anything at all.

There is a site called Heritage Quest that is completely free, but you must get the access code from your public library. Call the library and ask if they subscribe to Heritage Quest and how to access it. You do this online from home, but most libraries require you to have a library card to get the access code.

How do I find a death record?

August 2nd, 2010 3 comments

I never knew my real father. My mother refuses to talk about it. I do know his name and that he lived and died in California. I want to know how do i find his death record. I went to the government website and got really confused. I just want to know if that’s where he died. How do I get Information?

Find out what region of CA your dad died and then go to the probate court for that region.

Where can I find information about dead relatives?

July 29th, 2010 3 comments

My dad committed suicide almost 12 years ago and I wanted to know if there is a website or place where I can get information about his death. Does the US and/or state of California even record everyone’s death???

Thanks for your help =)

In the United States, deaths are recorded by death certificates.

There are many websites online where you can search legal documents for a price.
