Terry Jones, the pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida who is at the center of the Koran uproar, has so far resisted calls to cancel the bonfire.

President Obama and Eric Holder feel that there’s absolutely nothing they can do, apart from giving speeches, of course.

They have mis-interpreted the First Amendment, contrary to 230 years of US law, which is available in all law libraries. They feel that the First Amendment gives everybody an absolute right to say anything they want any time they want anywhere they want. They have decided to utterly disregard hundreds of Supreme Court cases that say that freedom of speech is limited (like every other right in the Bill of Rights).

One man’s right to free speech ends when that speech is highly likely to cause death or great bodilty harm to another person. Gen. Petraeus is on record in sworn testimony before the Congress that death or great bodily harm is the likely consequence of Terri Jones proposed speech act.

And yet the spineless, wormlike, Jellywaggle Blancmange Obamination — who has never seen any evil anywhere that he was willing to stand up to, says that he and Eric Holder’s hand are tied, there’s not a thing they can do — no injunction — no restraining order — not a thing — they are helpless.

Does that mean that every tort lawyer in the world is also helpless — and will be completely passive and inert if Terri Jones does his act and harm actually ensues.

See, then it’s not a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment is about prior restraint by the Federal government, not about tort suits brought after harm has been done by private tort lawyers.

Terri Jones and his Church and possibly his congregation members who participate in his act might very well be liable in civil law for all deaths and injuries that occur as proximate results of the proposed Koran burning. If a jury is satisfied that act A caused result B, and that result B was a clearly foreseeable consequence of act A, and that harm was done, then liability can be imposed as a matter of civil law. It’s called a mass tort — where a lot of people are hurt from a single act done by a single party — Terri Jones and his Church.

I think there’s also a case for damages based on the costs of increased security precautions that had to be put in place as a proximate result of the conduct of Terri Jones. So it’s like the Balloon Boy situation. One person causes a costly mass alarm that imposes otherwise unecessary costs on officials and law enforcement and security professionals.

Between these two torts Terri Jones will be out of business.

I think there’s also a Federal law that prevents malfeasors from profiting from book deals they make based on their bad acts. There may be a Florida law as well.

The fact that the President is a Jellywaggle Blancmange does not mean that Terri Jones is completely beyond the reach of American and world justice.

If the bad act is done the bad Karma will come to Terri Jones. I speak as a former member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (now retired).

Your characterization of my position clearly indicates that you did not read any part of it. If you had, you would know that my concern is force protection and for other Americans worldwide. Were you more circumspect and better informed, you would know that a lot of violence happened based on the Abu Gharaib photos, and the Gitmo Koran flushing. I know you will be there at Dover when the caskets come back from the extra Americans killed directly on account of the Terri Jones free speech occurance. You will explain to the families how Petraeus’ warning should properly have been ignored, and how the issuance of an injunction against Terri Jones would entail the complete and total cessation of all free speach by all Americans forever after. You will go on to explain that people always have a right to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theather when there is no fire. If somebody gets hurt — too bad. That’s the price we pay for an absolutist version of the First Amendment. Think!

Firstly, I want to say this is NOT going to be a, "we can burn the Koran if they burn the American flag, etc" post. I am interested in hearing opinions and getting a true discussion of the matter at hand.

Firstly, there is a issue (largely seen on Yahoo Answers) of people equating burning the Quran to burning the American flag. To put it simply, this is in my mind, ridiculous. The American Flag is a symbol of ideology. And while ideology is often misguided, in this case it works. One of our greatest freedoms (regardless of religious faith) is "Freedom of Speech".

You may not like the fact that people have a right, as stated in the Constitution / Bill of Rights, to burn the American Flag, and in fact, the Quran as well (we will address that later). yes, it does hurt many to see the symbol of freedom burning in some sort of protest. Whether you find that protest misguided or not, a flag is but a symbol of our rights and freedoms. You can burn 100 flags, but the American spirit will live on.

Here is a quote from the "Daily Record" in Gainesville, Florida, "This is a quote from the "Daily Record" in Florida, "The leader of a small Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy said Wednesday he was determined to go through with his plan to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11, despite pressure from the White House, religious leaders and others to call it off".

A lot of people say this is reprehensible. However everyone has to realize that just as a American Flag burner has a right to do so, so does this gentleman. You may not like it. You may hate it/him. But you can not deny him the right to do it. It is his right. What then, is the TRUE issue behind all the governments and the Vatican, etc denouncement of his RIGHT to do this?

General Petraeous denounces it due to the potential of harm towards American troops in Afghanistan / Middle East. I believe we will see a increase in violence towards Americans if this happens. My only issue with this is that violence is never-ending in any of these war/peace zones. This burning will not cause a fire, only add fuel to it.

Now, a lot of people online say burning the Quran is the same as a flag. This is simply not the case. The Flag is a symbol of ideology. The Quran is a religion. This is deeper then simply a symbol of government. Some people may argue the Quran is simple a book of hate towards non-Muslims. While I have not read the Quran, I find this hard to believe. And to put simply, the Bible (and mot likely all other religious texts) have semblance of violence throughout their texts.

There seems to be a underlying fear of violence to burning the Quran. and this is most likely true. As stated earlier, this will most likely lead to violence overseas. And as stated in many articles, the preacher in Florida (Terry Jones) has himself received numerous death threats. However, in both cases, it’s not the majority or entirety of a population causing violence. Extremists are everywhere for every cause. You can’t condemn a whole people or population because a select few take it upon themselves to represent everyone in matters of violence. To do so, would put you on a level equal to that of the very people you are condemning.

A lot of people are wondering, "then what is the solution to this problem"? I think the first step is to not view this as a "problem that needs solving". This is a opportunity to educate the world on different religions and test one’s faith on proclaimed rights. Read the Quran to REALLY understand what it’s about. Talk to people with the preacher’s view to find out WHY they feel the way they do. What’s most important is to do both with a FREE AND CLEAR MIND. To do otherwise would tarnish pretty much everything you say and/or hear. You can be angry at something once you understand it. But try not to hate, even if you think you have a right to. Hatred eats away at you and in the end, you end up suffering, not the ones you’re directing your feelings towards.

I think burning the Quran is an unchristian thing to do.

Finally, all of you, be of one mind, sympathetic, loving toward one another, compassionate, humble. Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult; but, on the contrary, a blessing, because to this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:8-9)

I acknowledge that this "Christian" has the legal right to burn the Quran in protest of a few Muslim extremists. This right is protected by his Freedom of Speech.

But I think that doing so is a moral wrong. He will intentionally or unintentionally insult and send the wrong message to over 1.5 billionmainstream Muslims with whom he has no complaint. These Muslims are our neighbors whom Jesus Christ has commanded us to love.

We don’t burn the U.S. flag to protest the small groups of far right extremists or far left extremists because it would insult and send the wrong message to over 300 million mainstream Americans.

We don’t burn the Bible to protest a small group of Christian extremists because it would insult and send the wrong message to over 2 billion mainstream Christians all over the world.

We don’t burn the Torah to protest a small group of Jewish extremists because it would insult and send the wrong message to mainstream Jews all over the world.

We shouldn’t burn the Quran to protest a small group of Muslim extremists because it would insult and send the wrong message to over 1.5 billion mainstream Muslims all over the world.

Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treat

Im 20yo and a kid (james) i went to school with broke his back at work and is now paralyzed waist down, (somthing fell off the roof oh the house he was working on)
he got a 3million dollar payout plus installments every yLil which doesn’t bother me (sides the fact i wish i had that money lol)

But there is another kid (Curtis) that i went to school with, was dealing drugs all through school (i know cause i did it with him) and he still does (i dont)
but he had a bad back claim and got a $400,000 payout he had been working there for 7 months WTF!!!

Yes sir I am. The problem is there are to many Americans wanting a free handout and the government is using those idiots to get elected so they can destroy our country. I’m tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I’m tired of being told that "race doesn’t matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

"I’m Tired" by Robert A. Hall

I’ll
be 63 soon.
Except for one semester in college when jobs were
scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs but
job-hunting every day, I’ve worked hard, since I was 18.
Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour
weeks, and haven’t called in sick for seven or eight years.
I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my
income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no
retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m
tired
of being told that I have to "spread the wealth around" to people
who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the
government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give
it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.

I’m
tired
of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in
their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick,
I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at
three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on
one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who
passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that
created the bubble, help them with their own money.

I’m
tired
of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like
Michael Moore, George Soros, and Hollywood entertainers who live
in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty
years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of
Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of
Mexico, the tolerance of Iran for Christian people, and the
freedom of speech of Venezuela . Won’t multiculturalism be
beautiful?

I’m Tired

I’ll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth around” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the leftwing Congresscritters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them—with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by leftwing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the religious freedom and women’s rights of Saudi Arabia, the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico, the tolerance for Gay people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela.
