When someone dies in unknown Hospice Care Center..where do they take the Body? How can I find out ?

I’ll try to keep this as consise as humanely possible:

Great Aunt Dies. (mid 80s, Alzheimers. Within last 3 days).

Her "next of kin" is terminally ill & in Care Facility. Can not be reached. Has no info anyway. Not coherant.

Great Aunt had been removed from her original Hospice Care to ANOTHER Hospice Care Facility that is UNKNOWN. Both unknown.

Aunt passes away.

Someone (unknown) phoned adult relative who had a brain aneurysm (6 yrs ago) and is = to a young child, to give details. All she remembers is they said Auntiie Gwennie died. She did not write down what was said. Caller i.d. says RESTRICTED.

The only other "next of kin" is a relative who’s recovering from brain surgery. (I only WISH I was trolling, kidding, or lying). She doesn’t know anything and is in NYC.

No, there is no foul play suspected.

I don’t know how this process works. There is no one (able enough) to ASK. I have no idea about any last directives, or her wishes. She wasn’t capable of complex thought for years. I don’t know if they pronounce someone dead at Hospice, or they send them to Hospital, or the Morgue, or what. I don’t know where (her body) she is. I’ve been searching, on-line, to get a list of possible Hospice Care Centers, Morgues, Mortuaries..even Arizona newspaper obits.. but I can’t get any info. I understand medical and death records are private, but if the "next of kin" are not capable, then I have to find her and make arrangements. There’s no one else.

I do not have her Social Security Number. No one does.

>>>QUESTION:
When one passes at unknown facility..
WHERE ARE THEY TAKEN? WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BODY?
Hospital? Morgue? Coronor? Do any of the above RECORD this anywhere? She lived in Arizona. I live in California.

Getting panicky.

Is there a web-site, or Hospice Care Directory..
I could go to/phone to take care of her body?

My Q&As repeat themselves lately and I don’t know why. Yahoo techs haven’t told me why it’s doing this. Sorry. I know it’s obnoxious, but I can’t make it stop.

Here in Illinois a body is stored at the Morgue until the funeral home comes out to get the person if the death occurs in the hospital. At least here. In order for you to be in a hospice program that has to be already arranged. You might try consulting the first hospice location to see if they can direct you to the other. Another try is I am sure a death has to be reported to the coroner either way.

Does any one know relatives of Keith E Miller living in or around Sterling Ill.?

His father name was Harold and his mother name was Shirley. Both his parents had kids from previous marriages. He had 2 brothers and 3 sisters from this marriage. All the initials were KEM
He had a sister named Kim and she had a daughter named Kayla who would be about 19 or 20 now. I have already searched in the counties of Whiteside, Lee, Carroll, Ogle, Bureau, Henry, and Rock Island. Ill. No record of his death. He was born on Jan 10, 1958 Died Sept. 21, 2005 He was born in Illinois and spent time in El Paso, Texas. I need to locate where his death certificate is. I have already search thru many obits and the ssdi to no avial. Please help for my daughter’s sake

Many of the SSDI’s on the web are not current. The one below has the reference for the Keith E. Miller you are seeking, so that means that Social Security has his death certificate. In light of this, I recommend that you check with them, and again with Whiteside county.

http://www.newenglandancestors.org/research/Database/ss/default.asp

Also, if you do an *advanced* search at www.zabasearch.com, you will locate Millers in Sterling, Illinois. Miller is a common name so you will also have to use the beginning letter of the first name, in this case, K when you do your search.

Best of luck to you.

How do I find out -ONLINE- where and how someone died if I know their name, SS#, and date of death?

I was recently told that my ex-husband had died years ago. I went to the Social Security Death Index, and all it told me was that he died in August of 1991. It did not say where his last residence was, so I do not know what state he was living in at the time. The newspaper in his hometown does not have archived obits that far back online, and I really want to find my information online, not in person, for personal reasons. His name was Joseph Allen Whitlow, Sr. We lived in Princeton, WV when we were married in the early 1980’s, and his mother still lives there, but I don’t want to call and ask her about it after this many years. My source about his death thought that he was living in Texas when he died, working as a manager for an apartment complex, and that he died of a drug overdose. But I can’t find anything in the Texas death record database or newspaper searches. Does anyone have any idea how to find this information online?

Your best bet is to go to a large library i looked up a death which took place some 45 years ago and found it with no problem
