What is the current average term served for rape?

March 8th, 2010 5 comments

Without making any excuses for him, my father was convicted of rape when I was a baby, 21 years ago. He was into drugs and bad stuff, but I’d like to at least mention that he’s a wonderful person now (and a much better father than the man who raised me, and then took off on his wife and 6 kids, rarely to be heard from again), so if you’re here to inform me that he should have been put to death or something, please don’t. I hear it enough.

Anyway, he’s been up for parole several times, but he’s been denied. I was wondering if anyone knew what the average time served was in the case of rape? My father has been moved to a minimum security prison, has a spotless behavior record, is captain of several inmate sports teams and manages the on-site manufacturing company the prison runs. I’ve long learned not to get my hopes up, but these "flops" are getting a bit ridiculous. I know a boy who got less time than my father has served for second-degree murder, after which he helped the actual killer cut up and burn the body (Michigan "Thrill Kill" case).

So, yea, I tried searching and none of the useful pages would load. Thanks ahead of time!

I don’t think there really is any average amount served. I’d say it’s a good sign that your father has been moved to a minimum security prison. Hopefully, they’ll parole him at his next hearing and then you can help him acclimate to the real world. Things have changed drastically while he’s been gone and will need your support.

Good luck.

How can I find my birth father?

February 20th, 2010 2 comments

When I was 30 I found out my dad wasn’t my real father. I am desperate to find him but have no idea how to start. The Social Security Death index doesn’t list him as deceased and I have asked neighbors who knew him with no result as to his location now. He was a Lutheran minister in Cape Girardeau, MO from 1970 to 1973.(The church has no records.) He moved to Escanaba, Michigan after that, where he also was pastor. He was accused, but never convicted, of murdering his wife in 1975 or 76. He was investigated by the FBI. His name is William Dean Tabor. He was no longer allowed to serve as a minister after the murder. I am told he never served a day in jail. He was born in the state of Indiana on 3/2/1933. I know that for a time after the murder, he lived in Texas but dont know where. I know that I have at least 1 sister and 2 brothers. He got a masters in religion and a BS in psychology and business somewhere in Indiana. He speaks fluent German and Latin. Can anyone help me?

Wrongly accused and stuck with the Public Defender?

December 21st, 2009 6 comments

I’ve been wrongly accused of a crime, but I do have a criminal record (drug paraphanalia). The police and DA believe that I’m a drug dealer (that’s what the Public Defender told me), so I think that’s why they’re trying me with anything they can.

My problem is that I’ve had the Public Defender several times before and he consistently failed or was totally incompitent. Now I’m facing two years in state prison and I’m scared to death that he will screw this up for me.

Is there any reason other than conflict of interest that would qualify me for a court-appointed attorney in Pennsylvania?
I’m poor and have horrible credit, but if I could I would definitly hire an attorney. If I knew of some way that I could get a large enough loan I’d take it. I’d rather be in debt up to my elbows for the rest of my life then in state prison for two years.

"Belief" is insufficient grounds to persue any charge, it takes "probable cause" in general that means strong evidence.

I don’t doubt your claim of wrongful accusation for a second, i’ve seen it many, many times. If your claim is true, and you know best, then there is onlly one logical conclusion; your being bulldozed by the legal system itself. Unfortunately, this means NO lawyer or any amount of money can stop it. But that doesn’t mean nothing can stop it, you and only you can do that. I’m here to tell you its actually relatively easy, if you merely have basic skills(read & write) i know you can. Just e-mail me and i’ll gladly help you, if you simply give me a chance i’ll show you that you can defend yourself far, far better than any freaking lawyer.
