Climate Change Will Lead to 5 Million Deaths by 2020?

Scary huh, or is it. The World’s Worst Floods
1.Huang He (Yellow) River, China
1931
Death Toll: 1,000,000 to 3,700,000
2.Huang He (Yellow) River, China
1887
Death Toll: 900,000 to 2,000,000
3.Huang He (Yellow) River, China
1938
Death Toll: 500,000 – 900,000
Flu. the 1918 – 1919 outbreak which killed an estimated 50 – 100 million people.
Malaria most likely is the the greatest killer of humans in history. Even today, the World Health Organization estimates that it kills 2.7 million people a year; WHO says that it kills 2,800 children a day
wildfires.Peshtigo, Wisconsin
October 8 – 14, 1871
More than 1,500 lives were lost and 3.8 million acres burned. The United States’ worse fire
Maine and New Brunswick, Canada
October 1825
Named after a river in Canada, the Miramichi fire burned 3 million acres and killed 160.
huricanes.
1.
November 13, 1970
East Pakistan (now Bangladesh)

The deadliest hurricane on record struck East Pakistan, flooding the low lying areas. At least 500,000 deaths are blamed
2.
October 7, 1737
Bengal, India

This hurricane killed at least 300,000
3.
1881
Haiphong, Vietnam

The Haiphong Hurricane killed approximately 300,000
So is the doom and gloom going to get alot worse or will it just be just as it has always been?
anyone notice that all these events happened before Jimmy ‘we’re really doomed’ Hansens socalled global warming?
edit tom
most of those are not due climate change
then why are the wildfires in russia, the floods in pakistan and all floods now because of climate change

People are dying from the cold in Europe due to global warming.

Stupidity rules and self deceiving mechanism always ensures that denial will always be maintained.
Of course global warming exacerbates natural calamities and environmental disasters.
The increase in frequency and power of natural disasters will only worsen with time.
The brain dead rationale by the ignoramuses who always contend we always had natural disasters and that because of the sophistication of the worldwide communication that we can better access information make it seem as if more disasters are felt just goes to show how idiotic and dumb witted people can be.
Based on all figures and trends on natural disasters for the last 100 years, it is definitely increasing at an alarming rate than ever before with the severity and power of natural disasters increasing manifold.
Many nowadays living have become so mislead and their ability to reason rationally so compromised by mis-information and dis-information so much so that they have become the seeing blind and the hearing deaf.

What no stats for cars related deaths I believe the figure for the U.S. alone is ~30,000
Or perhaps you could list the worldwide deaths related to old age a really scary figure ~100,000 a day.
The figures you have quoted are related to random natural events that will continue to happen.
I note you mention the 1918 flu pan (actually it lasted till 1921) odd since deniers tried to play down the reaction to the recent flu epidemic and the strong actions taken to limit it’s spread, I would have thought the Spanish flu outbreak of 1918 would be a very good reason to take strong precautions given the similarity in both affecting the young rather than the old.
It’s hard not to notice that most of the things you list happened a long time ago, some 150-200 years ago that is just ridiculous, many of those deaths would not happen today as aid is available to stop the deaths by infection and starvation (which make a large portion of those numbers) that usually follow events like floods, in the 1880s nobody in the west even heard of these events till weeks or months later today it’s on CNN in hours.
Beyond that I’m not sure what you are suggesting, if you mean 5 million doesn’t mean anything because a lot of people die for other reasons as well, that’s seems a rather insensitive attitude, even for a denier. But then I forget I speaking to someone only really interested in points for fellow deniers.

I’m sure you’ve been told that not one specific event can be attributed to a warming planet. Global warming deals with trends. As you have been told this before why is it so hard for you to understand? Do I have to give a definition of what a trend is? Scientists state that a trend in flooding will increase. They say that the number of hurricanes will decrease while the trend in the strength of those hurricanes will increase.

Mike: You can start by reading the science. I base my response off what scientists state. If you want to call me out you can also call out the scientists whose have actually studied this. Of course you, being a meteorologist, knows everything there is to know about the climate and the physics associated with change in it don’t you?

I think the first two answerers missed the "or is it?"
When alarmists make their assessments, they never seem to use those items that favor fewer deaths due to warming such as fewer winter born diseases from not being shut up indoors. All you get are vague threats of malaria as if mosquitos only occur in warm places and more "tropical" diseases They tend to exaggerate. It is in the defintion of alarmists. It is easier to scare people with exotic diseases than familiar ones I suppose.

I guess according to Bruce, global cooling will reduce severe weather and improve the human condition.

Although, according to Jeff M, less severe weather couldn’t be directly attributed to global cooling but a cooling trend would result in an overall improvement to mankind.

Yes, these things happen, but you are forgetting that now it is all due to global warming and past events were naturally occurring but when they happen now it is due to human emissions only. Haven’t you been listening to the AGW supporters? Katrina was caused by Bush and the flooding that is happening in Pakistan this year is because of us evil Americans not given a darn about anything.

Only 5 million over the next 10 years. According to the WHO, tobacco use kills more than 5 million people per year globally and they also say 1.2 million people die in car crashes every year. That’s roughly 60 million in total over 10 years. Once again climate change is insignificant, its a non issue as usual.
