Public Records in Boston? Where can I access them?

I am looking for a public records database in Boston, Massachusetts ?I am looking for Death, Birth and Military records going back 40 years? are there any services that can provide this for me?

Here is where you need to go, as some records will always be outside of the Boston Jurisdiction –

    Hank is correct in that city hall, the REGISTRY DEPT. would be the place for birth & death records. You can also order birth certificates (see: http://www.cityofboston.gov/registry/registerbirth.asp for further info) and death certificates (see: http://www.cityofboston.gov/registry/registerdeath.asp for further info).

    City registry home: http://www.cityofboston.gov/registry/default.asp

    For Veterans records you should start at: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html

    I have used this, it’s pretty quick.

    From the above –
    "Request Copies of Military Personnel Records

    Welcome to our online military personnel records request system.

    Use our system to create a customized order form to request information from your, or your relative’s, military personnel records. You may use this system if you are:

    * A military veteran, or
    * Next of kin of a deceased, former member of the military
    o The next of kin can be any of the following: surviving spouse that has not remarried, father, mother, son, daughter, sister, or brother.

    If you are not the veteran or next of kin, you must complete the Standard Form 180 (SF 180). See Access to Military Records by the General Public for more details.".
