Is this a good example of how Republicans vote against their own interests?

So many of the Republican Party’s largest donors are industries that are lethal to American lives. They include:

-Tobacco Industry
(cough cough 600k US lung cancer deaths a year)
-the gun lobby/NRA
(gun violence on the rise w/ most of this increase caused by the 1% of gun shop owners not doing backround checks required by law)
-Pollution caused by unlimited drilling
(no human death but detremental to wildlife in Alaska)
-War profiteering.
(HUGE business in war manufacturing. 847 US troops dead so far in 2007. + 4 more and 2007 will surpass 2004 as the bloodiest year for US involvent in Iraq so far)
-The Health care industry
(record rise in uninsured/rising insurance premium cause rise in late detection and early death in Americans)
-The billion dollar drug industry

Somehow I dont think this is what the GOP VOTERS had in mind when Republican polticians lie through their teeth about the GOP being a party of life

Why the obvious disconect between voters and donors?

The disconnect occurs because there are two Republican parties, just as there are two sets of justice and, if you want to go as far as John Edwards does, there are two Americas.

Worse yet, middle class Republicans accept this as a fact of life, so they vote for the party that appeases them on one or two limited issues, such as forcing some women to have babies or codifying discrimination against gays.

Donors pay lots of money to do lots of advertising. Why do you think Rush makes so much? It’s not like people take him seriously anymore.

Have you looked at the list of Democrats taking money from the same sources. Be careful what you wish for.

Dems do it too.. but that doesn’t make it right. All people who hold political office had to get campaign money from somebody someway.. and eventually they owe them something.

Take a look at the issues that Republicans are against.

Removal of mercury in the drinking water
    Reduction of air polution
    Reduction of water polution
    Quality education
    Science.

What they want are uneducated people whose brains have been destroyed by mercury and other polution. In other words, more Republicans.

Either party wouldn’t mind being endorsed by anyone from anywhere.

    1) I don’t have a problem with the tobacco industry. In this day and age, people can choose to smoke if they want to. Yes, its addictive, and they cause cancer, but everybody knows about it

    2) What is wrong with the NRA? Oh, god, not the 1%!!!!

    3) Unlimited drilling? in the US? ARE YOU KIDDING?!!!

4)War profiteering? Hey, people are going to die anyway. Its the American way to figure out how to make a buck off it. Somehow I doubt that the higher ups get together and purposefully sacrifice marines for bucks.

    5) How is Republicans’ fault that insurance prices are going up? Did you forget that this country has a general policy of laissez-faire?

    6) What is your problem with people making money?!!!

Guns, God, & Gays are what most conservative voters actually think about, so as long as politicians talk about those subjects they can screw over their base, laughing all the way to the bank.

Now I know why they call this site the "spinroom". Aside from misquoting figures and flat-out lying, you seem to be very concerned about where GOP candidates get their LEGAL contributions, while the leading DEM candidate has already been busted twice in two 4 months for knowingly engaging in ILLEGAL fundraising from foreign countries and enemies of America.

I know you thought to start a battle of wits but you brought a knife to a gunfight!

Thanks for the 2 points though!!!

    —-Tobacco Industry
(cough cough 600k US lung cancer deaths a year)

That’s the smokers choice, what does that have to do with me? I’m a former 3 pack a day guy, I understand how hard it —is to quit, but some people choose not to. Most people have. Look around, hardly anyone smokes any more.

    ——the gun lobby/NRA
(gun violence on the rise w/ most of this increase caused by the 1% of gun shop owners not doing background checks required by law)
Let’s just say this statitstic is true. Wouldn’t it be easier to crack down on the 1% who are breaking the law instead of passing MORE laws punishing the 99% who obey
the current laws. If the 1% refuses to abide by the current law, what the helll makes you think they will follow the new laws?

    —-Pollution caused by unlimited drilling
(no human death but detremental to wildlife in Alaska)

My job takes me to some of the 48 states most remote places. Oklahoma is full of oil wells. Cattle graze on the grass growing on top of the oil wells, and we eat the cattle. No harm comes to anyone. The oil wells don’t interfere with the cattles’ life whatsoever. They are smart enough to walk around them. So are caribou.

    ——War profiteering.
(HUGE business in war manufacturing. 847 US troops dead so far in 2007. + 4 more and 2007 will surpass 2004 as the bloodiest year for US involvent in Iraq so far)

I could explain to you why we are at war, but it would be a a waste of keystrokes. You are a liberal, you won’t get it anyway.

    ——-The Health care industry
(record rise in uninsured/rising insurance premium cause rise in late detection and early death in Americans)

Insurance should be for catestrophic care only. It used to be that way. If you had the sniffles and had to go to the family doctor, it wasn’t that long ago you had to give the doctor $30-50 before he would even let you get past the receptionist. There was no co-pays, no unneccessary tests, and no $300 bill coming to your house a week later. $30. that was it. Since we now expect insurance to pay for EVERYTHING, costs are now spiraling out of control. Think about it. Take your dog to the vet. No money, no treatment. Did you know your vet can run your dog through an MRI for a FRACTION of what your doctor can run you through one for?

    —–The billion dollar drug industry
Americans like drugs. We live longer, healthier lives because of this billion dollar industry. What’s wrong with that??
