If I was convicted of a misdemeanor in one State can another state call me a felon?
I was in Alabama and was involved in a horrible accident that resulted in a death. I plead to a misdemeanor. The state of Illinois has posted on my DMV record that I am a felon because the Department of motor vehicles claims "If this incident would have occurred in Illinois it would be a felony"
Yes.
A State can consider you a convicted felon if the crime you were convicted of would have been a felony in that State.
