how can i access public records online like marraige and death certificates for free?

As my grandmother used to say,"they are few and far between," but a few do exist. On the FamilySearch.org pilot site they have a few. I know they have some Texas death certificates. http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

Also, the state of Missouri has a wonderful website that includes:
Missouri Birth and Death Database pre 1910
Missouri Death Certificates 1910-1958
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/

Georgia’s Virtual Vault has a database of Death Certificates for 1919-1927. http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/gadeaths.php

So, if I were in need of a marriage or death certificate, I would always check any websites for the state that would have issued the certificate.

Could someone help me with my genealogy? Hitting a brick wall.?

I am trying to find parents of Isaac Osman from Shamokin, PA, Northumberland Co.

He was born in Nov 1846 and died 12 Nov 1906. I have tons of info on his Wife Harriet S. Bordner, and his children,Emma M, Minnie N, William F, Alice L, but I can’t seem to find any info about his parents/grandparents.

His wife Harriet was remarried to a Frank E. Osman after his death so it is possible that he and Frank were brothers, or related.

The rumor is that either Isaacs dad or grandfather came from Turkey but I cant prove this either.

In 1860 there are 2 records for Isaac Osman in Pennsylvania, 1 born abt 1855 and 1 (below) born abt 1848. I imagine the 1848 one is probably the one I want as the cencus says:
John Osman 40 PA
Mary A Osman 40 PA
John Osman 16 PA
Isaac Osman 12 PA
Mary Miller 15

I am looking for a document that says Issac’s dad was John before I call it a possitive match. So far I havent found any record of Isaac that lists his dads name.

Thank You!

I did a search on www.familysearch.org and it came up with a marriage for Johan Osmon to Mary Ann Bretz in 1845 in PA.
I also found this on the site named above.

I found what I needed from Canada and was able to trace my ancester to michigan but can’t get the above information at ancestry.com. this information is need to go future any help is welcom

One of the best resources for Michigan (or any state) is the State Library. They have records on microfilm that you can borrow by going to your local library and requesting an inter library loan, where they will send the microfilm to your local library.

Here is the official Michigan website and has the answers to your question on how, what and where records can be found.
http://www.michigan.gov/hal/0,1607,7-160-17449_18635—,00.html

Another source is your nearest LDS Church Family Research Center. They also have access to microfilm and can lookup the film you need, order it from Salt Lake City, and allow you to browse the film. It used to cost $2.50 for them to rent it for 2 weeks. You can search their site at www.familysearch.org.

From the Michigan site:
The Library of Michigan has entered into an agreement with The Generations Network (Ancestry.com) to digitize these Michigan death records. Funding from the Talbert and Leota Abrams Foundation is making this digitization project possible. The death records will be loaded into a database that will be indexed and easily searchable. All scanned images will be provided for FREE on the Library of Michigan’s Web site. Users from across the country will be able to access the database and download death records from the comfort of their home computer.
