Why do people hate Mormons?I mean, really?

March 21st, 2011 12 comments

Okay, I am from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. (or "Mormon" to those of you who have small intellectual skills) I am coming here today of Yahoo Answers to propose a question to the public. This question of coarse "What do people have against Mormons?" and I don’t want facts that you can’t back up, by saying " oh your Jesus isn’t our Jesus" there is only ONE Jesus Christ.Savior of the world.
Before you start ranting about how crappy the LDS church is, let me clear up a few things for you.
#1 We are not a cult. If you are naming us a cult and you have religion then your the cat calling the kettle black. All religious practices can be viewed as "cults" here is the link to prove it.http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cult

#2 We are not Polygamist. In the LDS religion we are married to ONE person for all eternity. Polygamy was practiced back in the days of Brigham Young.(the 1800’s!) and not because he wanted more than one wife. OOOH NO! it wasn’t for that. Its because of a thing called Mormon Pioneers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_pioneers) and the Mormon Batallion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_Battalion) which were instances where LDS were kicked out of there homes and they were burned down because of their beliefs. They had to travel from New York to Utah by FOOT with handcarts, wagons, and oxen or horse pulling them.(bringing what little belongings they could salvage. On this treck many of the Men died , i mean, lets face it? who probably did most of the heavy duty work and MOST of the walking.not only that but wives lost husbands and parents lost children (babys even) it was difficult for many of them and it was sad but they did all this in the name of faith. Brigham Young probably married multiple women (as probably did other men) because the women had NO ONE to take care of them once they were their. also, polygamy was outlawed in the U.S. in 1882. Brigham Young died in 1877. (also, polygamy was widely accepted in the world before then) even the BIBLE has it? remember the bible talking about harlots and mistresses? oh ya… the Mormon church TOTALLY started polygamy. and we ENCOURAGE IT RIGHT?*sarcasm*. haha! do some research people.

#3 No we do not worship Joseph Smith or some guy called Mormo. Joseph smith is known for restoring what was said inside the Golden Plates. A document passed down from Nephi down to his last Decendent Mormon. The Golden Plates are not found today, because they are too sacred and lets face it. Who would be puzzled reading a dead language? or the matter of fact. people might steal the plates made from PURE gold and sell it. and lose the records forever. Its like someone taking the original documents of the bible burning them or defecating them. Yes, you wouldn’t like that either would you?.Mormon(who wrote the last book) like i said was the last decedent of of Lehi (who wrote the first book) fallowed by Nephi and so on. Mormon had to watch the death of his people and was an outcast in his own land.(http://www.suite101.com/content/who-was-mormon-a115600) He buried the golden then appeared to Joseph so that he could restor them to us. That we could have the truth. (unlike the bible that has been changed many, many, many, many,MANY times and different versions have been made.) The closest to the true bible is the original King James version that was translated from Latin. and no. Joseph Smith didn’t make it up. Joseph Smith had up to a 3rd grade education and wasn’t very smart. Neither was Oliver Cowdry! he was just the scribe. Could you translate a dead foreign language at the third grade level if you grew up on a farm and only knew how to read the bible and do farm work? NOT EVEN!! so yes. that answers that for you. Also there are STILL have SURVIVING copies of the FIRST EDITION of the Book of Mormon though. So you know this thing hasn’t been manipulated my the church (or anyone else) in any way.

#4 Yes we have temples in which we are sealed to our spouses for time and all eternity.(pretty cool huh?) and yes we wear magic underwear (undergarments is what we call them) oh? you think thats funny? haha! then why are you wearing a "t" around your neck? haha! thats right. your cross stands for something and so do our garments. They are just as sacred and stand for things and protect us.sound familiar?(you only get them when you marry though)

#5 We are not prejudice or hate anyone. (this is for you out there who think LDS are against "homosexuality") We are not. We don’t approve of it in our temples, because temples are only for
men and woman marriage (you know, the two people you need to make children) and our church is mainly focused of having eternal families. soooo…my point made.I know people who are LDS who are gay and attend church. We don’t kick gay people out or hate them. We view the temple as a sacred..)
I have a strong
The LDS religion is focused on Jesus Christ our savior of the world. We are a family based religion and believe that families will be together forever. It is my testimony that the LDS church is the truest thing to THE truth I have come across. Anything I have questioned it has been answered and I am left unquestioning the church and having nothing but love and faith and complete joy from it. I wish they world could know this feeling, this great love I have and feel in my soul. 🙂 It is truly amazing in every sense of the word. I love my religion, and i wouldn’t deny it ever.. I know its words are the truth and I know the book of mormon speaks the truth and is the completion to the bible. Those two books are the complete gospel of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And there is nothing in the world that could ever make me leave this love I feel. The sense of belonging I feel, and the sense of family I feel from attending church every Sunday….. :’) I love it with all my heart and so

I just wanted to thank you for posting this. Even though a lot of non members aren’t going to read this, you put it out there for them to read.

But, my only suggestion is not to pick on other religions in it. I grew up wearing that "t" around my neck, and that was a way I showed my faith. But, now that I’m becoming a part of the LDS religion, I’m thankful that there’s people out there who aren’t afraid to ask questions like this.

There’s a quote I like, and it says "people like to throw rocks at things that shine". Which is definitely true. People want to try to burn down LDS churches, people try to protest and write on temple grounds about how "terrible" the church is, and all the LDS do is sit back and thank GOD that we don’t despise people as much as they do us. If people want to spend their lives picking on a religion that they’re apparently so against, then go for it. I have better things to do than deal with the rumors they’re spreading.

Trust me, I’ve heard just about every ex-Mormon thing out there. And I come to find out that many are false accusations, or they’re someone’s statements. People just try to tear down what I think they deep down know is right.

Also, even Jesus told us that people would hate his followers. But He’s been through it all. Every type of temptation, or pain, or betrayal imaginable, he’s been through. Some people in the Bible even mentioned to rejoice when people persecute you.

So keep your faith, and make sure to pray and read the scriptures. Your testimony will always power over what exs or anti’s say.
