Death Penalty ? Are you in Favor or Against?

July 4th, 2010 1 comment

I agree that the death penalty should be for Sex offender on Kids Recently on the state of texas It looks the congress is working in the law to be approval Are you in Favor? or Agaisnt?
The chances of getting the wrong person for a crime is now 0% in my opinion and mostly when they have LONG criminal records I mean I see on tv they arrest people with 4 to 11 pages in crime history I mean that people is just Not right
Why should animals be allowed to live like Ian Huntley or any other rapers or serial killers that could be your neightbor or your friend Would you loose any sleep if he was dead?
I thought not What do you think
I THINK THAT BRITNEY IT’S RIGHT WE SHOULD HAVE A ISLAND WHERE WE SEND THEM THERE AND DIE THERE BECAUSE JAIL IS A JOKE I HAD SEEN PEOPLE GET OUT AND COMMINT CRIMES SAME DAY THAT THEY’RE OUT AND THAT’S NOT RIGHT AND IT MATTER FACT ALL THAT PROCESS FOR "REHAB" COMES FROM OUR WORK FROM OUR MONEY FROM OUR TAXES OFCORSE I WANT A SAFETY PLACE WHERE I KNOW MY CHILDS AND MY WIFE AND MY FAMILY WOULD BE NOT CRIME BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO THINK TWICE BEFORE THEY DO IT,… I THINK THAT IS A GREAT IDEA A PLACE WHERE THEY STAY THERE AND SURVIVE AS GOD’S WILL
Brittany Im sorry I said Britney and well education, talent show, phone calls, 3 meals a day, recreation time, a hot shower, movies, visits… well for Someone that has a long history in crimes and sex offenders?
Now how "New Dog Owner" prespective look Yes I’m with him 1st offenders and people with regular crimes everyone can be a victim and everyone can be a Offender a Trafic ticket I had before, speeding ticket, being drunk when I was a kid, I mean I can understand that but we’re talking about people who they wake up and there thought is have Sex with your child or Mine and some they would do it some they don’t but for those I don’t need to know they’re guilty or not no one can have thoughts like that,… before was hard to prove guiltyness now this days is DNA, and Cientific Test that are 99% right so I would Doud about that?
well Thank you so much for your answers and opinion by the way Yes this is just Yahoo I appoligize for the bad spelling but when you speak or you know 3 languages it’s hard and I believe for the lady there she said that I need sound educated well, bad spelling or bad accent that doesn’t mean that I’m not intelligent to know what’s right or what’s wrong now if My profesion was a writter or news man or something have to be with my accent or my spelling I would call you ok? lol

death penalty takes too LONG and too much MONEY. instead of losing troops we should drop off the criminals and a box of weapons and if they win the war they win their freedom… in ANOTHER COUNTRY!

What the ethical codes of conduct for MTV,especially their take on mobile phone audio, picture, and video?

June 29th, 2010 1 comment

With advanced technology comes responsibility. Lets talk about how someone used a cell phone to record the death of Saddam Hussein. With this recording device they then played it ad nauseam all over the world and within hours of his death a child in Texas and now it’s been reported in Egypt and other parts of the Middle East children have hung themselves to see how it felt for Saddam to die! Granted some experts are saying they didn’t need the visual to set them off, and that they may have been over the edge anyway, but does this give us the right to act in such an irresponsible manner? I think not. For these families to having to deal with their children’s demise it may have well been an explosive device that someone detonated right in the privacy of their own homes.
Now that anyone can become a common-citizen journalist with broadcasting power similar to large media companies, do we as responsible individuals have to follow the same code of ethics as CNN TV, Time Magazine, NBC TV,

Being nice.

I have questions about 2 relatives buried @ Files Valley Cemetery, Files, TX. What gov depart. do I contact?

June 6th, 2010 1 comment

I have already contacted the records clerk in Hill County, Texas that handles the birth, death & marriage certificates, but she said she doesn’t know who to contact. Any suggestions?
Update – I don’t need to know where they are buried or dates – I have pictures of their graves. My questions are pertaining to the data on the stones – discrepancies to other records on same people. If there is such a thing as a cemetery office, I can’t find a number or a address

If you’re looking for information related to their burial, doesn’t the cemetery office have the information you’re seeking?

————

Sorry for the delayed reply .. let me see what I can find out and I’ll write again in a few minutes (it’s Friday, 5:00PM in Chicago)

————

Okay, here’s a website with a list of the names of those buried there. The website also has a phone number for info on plot availability and an email address of the person who assembled the list of names. Sounds like the email addy may be useful to you.

It’s a small cemetery that may have begun as a family burial place. So you’re right that there’s no office.

I hope there’s something helpful here…

Free genealogy information?

Where can I find Texas birth records from 1900-present (targeting the 70s on, really) for free online. Before Roots Web was bought out, they listed birth information for free.

Also, can anyone find Louisiana birth and death records for free online (60s, on?).

Free? not that I know .. ancestry has Tx birth index but not free.
I really kind of scratch my head on them having that much. Birth records are particularly vulnerable to id theft and/or privacy laws, so it is curious that they would have those.
Same for Louisiana, but I don’t think ancestry has those.
All states legally restrict birth records to those who have immediate valid interest (the person or parents of a child).

Why can’t I find record of my GGGrandFather’s death?

Stephen P. Williamson was born in 1856 Arkansas. I found him in a census in 1860 with his family there. I found him in 1876 when he married in Texas. I found him in 1880 with his wife and some of his children in Texas Montague. I was told by my Father he died in Del Rio, Texas and then his wife, my GGGrandMother Betty (Welch)Williamson moved on to Bisbee, AZ. But I cannot find any record of his death. I believe he would have to have died after 1919 according my findings.

Since Val Verede County is on the Mexican border, do you suppose that he could have died over the border in Mexico?

Wow, this family really is a challenge.

The first thing I found was a death certificate for Fonc Williamson, son of Steve Williamson and Betty Welch. He was born feb 19, 1883 in Arkansas and died May 4, 1940 in Wellbon, Yuma County, Arizona. I thought that this was a unique name so i thought i would try to follow him through the census. Here is a link to his death certificate:

His name is mistranscribed in the World War I draft cards. He is indexed as "Ford" rather than Fonc. The cards were completed in 1917-1918 and he was in Cochise county, Arizona proving that he was in the state before 1920.

State: Arizona
Birth Date: 19 Feb 1882
Race: White

I couldn’t find him in 1930, but I did find him living with his mother in 1920 in Cochise county, Arizona. Also in the house hold is his sister Maud. It clearly states that Mary E. (Betty a nickname for Elizabeth) is widowed.

Source Citation: Year: 1920;Census Place: McNeal, Cochise, Arizona; Roll: T625_46; Page: 3A; Enumeration District: 9; Image: 800.
Indexed as Fanc S Williamson

Williamson, Fanc head male white 37 years old single born in Arkansas
Williamson, Mary E mother female white 60 years old widowed born in Texas
Williamson, Maud L sister female white 28 years old.

From this census, we would have to surmise that the family was there before 1920 and that Stephen P Williamson died prior to that.

I can’t find the family in 1910. I do find his brother Noat in Menard county, Texas with wife Belle and two kids Steven L. and Olie. Steven was born in New mexico in 1904 creating yet another place to look for answers.

Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Justice Precinct 6, Menard, Texas; Roll: T624_1574; Page: 9A; Enumeration District: 162; Image: 1331.

By the time of the World War I draft cards, Noat was in cochise county too with brother Lonc. His card was signed on September 12, 1918.

Virgil was also there in Coshise county according to his draft card completed on the same day, September 12, 1918.

As you can see, you have several different directions you can go in. I’m pretty well convinced that Stephen died before 1920 because it seems like his family was in Arizona by 1918.

I think that finding him in 1910 may be key. He is definitely in Val Verde in 1900. Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Justice Precinct 3, Val Verde, Texas; Roll: T623 1675; Page: 5B; Enumeration District: 75.
He is not indexed by first name because it is illegible, but Noat for example is indexed as Notie A and Betty is indexed as Elizabeth.

I could send you any of the images listed above if you would like to have them. Just e-mail me through my profile.

Why are Texas records so much more accessible than those of other states?

May 20th, 2010 3 comments

I have many ancestors and relatives who have lived in Texas, but I occasionally need to access birth, marriage, death records from other states, and many of them are not accessible through Ancestry.com or any other site.

Hmmm, I don’t know — it sounds unlikely that Texas has determined its policy on public records access entirely as a way to make money off of one specific website.

More likely, they just want to have a high level of customer service.

How to look for my birth mother who has been missing over 20 years?

May 5th, 2010 2 comments

I Have been searching for my birth mother for several years now. I am 29 Years old and I am a mother of three amazing boys who don’t know there own grandmother . I have an older brother who really is not interested in finding her. I found out last year on Christmas Eve that I had a sister same birth mom. She was adopted and she new about my brother and I all her life. I met her for the first time last year on New Years. It was so awesome getting to know her I never had a sister I never new about her which makes me sad. My mother’s name is Martha Ann McGraw her D.O.B. IS 1-1-1959 her last known where about was in Mesquite Texas in 2002. She has no record after 2002. She is not in any death records in Texas. She hasn’t been remarried as far as know. I tried every agency. Most of them are way tooooooooo exspensive. It is an endless search . Does anyone have any ideas for me on my journy to search for my long lost Birth Mother ? NO ON IN MY ENTIRE FAMILY IS HELPING ME NOR KNOW WHERE SHE COULD BE THEY GAVE UP. I will never give up my search for my mother. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!!!

ancestry.com is sometimes useful. Try searching local town databses, like the tax assessor’s office database, in nearby towns to where you think she may be. If she owns a home/property you may find luck. Those databases are open to the public (a few towns may charge small fee to access), but they will not show up on a google search.

This can be a tough thing. Do you make yourself searchable on the internet? If you maintain a public page for yourself, you will make it easy for her to find you, if she’s looking.

Keep searching, the internet is a valuable tool. Use different search engines, yahoo, ask.com, etc …. sometimes they come up with different results.
